Murder on Eridanos has a very intriguing mystery afoot. This type of game is perfect for a murder detective mystery as you can interact with the NPCs very thoroughly to question them and investigate their stories and motivations.

Unfortunately that's where the parises end, as the questline is basically go talk with this suspect and report back with an occasional side objective of looking for clues on the ground that amount to very little.

The new location looks cool but feels very hollow since there isn't much to do and theres very little environmental storytelling (wich is something the other expansion and base game do very well).

The new slug enemies are appreciated but behave like all other enemies in the base game so not a huge improvement, although the final boss is nice.

All in all, this expansion has a good start, a sluggish 😈 middle, and undercooked but exiting end.

When this dame walked into my posession i knew i was facing a replay of a game that had...by no fault of its own disapointed me. I knew this lady had trouble written all over her lights cigar
But i gave her a chance, and she made her case, i took it of course, thats why were here... And i cant lie, I enjoyed it, the thrills, the twists, the weird gun that required a lotta fetchquesting... but i couldnt help feeling like it was baiting me with a prize i could never attain.

Ive since solved this case, but the mystery of why the primary element was undercooked...well another time

We need more murder mystery dlc for all games

uma parte do plot é previsível e a outra eu fiquei assim :o

God this was so good in my mind. Would really recommend taking Felix and Parvati. There was so much story in this and I wish there were more DLCs besides just two. Both are great in my mind.

Much better than the first DLC, this actually feels like an expansion instead of something ripped from the main story to be sold aside like Gorgon.

Starts kinda neat and the murder mystery premise is fun, but I was already maxed out on everything and kinda bored of the game when I got to this DLC it just felt like a long chore to do. Plus like the first DLC the story ends up being really predictable and boring.

Playtime: 6 Hours
Score: 8/10

So I started this DLC a year ago when it came out, but got busy and wasn't able to finish it. I recently had a day off from work so I decided to come back and spend the day finishing it up. Returning to this game felt like catching up with an old best friend as this game was my GOTY of 2019, and I just really loved playing it! The story for this DLC has you go to Eridanos where you have to solve the murder of a famous actress who was referenced a lot throughout the base game.

Once again the writing and character interactions are fantastic in this DLC and it just reminded me why I love this game! Eridanos itself is a beautiful planet to explore even if its only one map location. The use of color and the general art style makes this game always great to look at. With Peril on Gorgon one of my complaints was most of the NPCs were huddled up in one building, with only one other small group of NPCs located somewhere else on the map, which left most of the asteroid feeling lifeless. Here thankfully, the NPCs are spread out much better as you always find someone to talk to or get a quest from. The map design is also a lot better as its much easier to get around where as the Gorgon asteroid was hard to navigate sometimes.

I also found the story to be a bit better this time around and the mystery was very interesting to uncover. One of the new gameplay mechanics is a device that allows you to scan crime scenes for clues. It talks to you with some funny dialogue, and as you scan the crime scenes, you will get skill checks like you would when talking to a NPC, that allows you to make deductions. I found it to be quite fun and different to most other games that try to do the whole Batman Arkham detective mode mechanic. Unlike the first DLC however, that had you revisit old planets that now had new areas, this DLC has you on Eridanos the entire time, which didn't bother me but it may for others.

My only real negatives are some of what I said in my previous DLC review. The level cap only gets raised by 3, making the final cap only 36 which is just too low in my opinion. In New Vegas each DLC raised the cap by 5, which I would have liked here, as 40 being the final cap would have been cool. You just don't get much points to level, if you were already at max level before this DLC like me. Halfway through this DLC I was already at the level cap, so quests after that didn't even give me XP anymore. This will obviously only be if your a high level like I was at the start, but its still worth mentioning. Companions do get some great new dialogue, but there are no new quests with them.

Overall this was a solid DLC for me, and definitely my favorite of the two. I highly recommend it if your a fan of the base game!

I am a damn fool for waiting so long to play this. My only real complaint with this DLC (and the Outer Worlds as a whole tbh) is that it's too short, and I want way more of this writing in this world.

Big improvement over Peril on Gorgon. Tries to do something completely different within the established world of the game, that of solving a murder. The investigation is fun, and is a good fit for the game! Hell, I want a detective RPG now. The 'world' you explore is completely different from anything in the base game, which compared to the boring blue lump that was Gorgon feels like actual content worth playing. Eridanos is as memorable as Nuka World or Toussaint in terms of taking us somewhere new.

Not all the investigation is as good as it could be. Pointing your 'clue gun' around to sniff out evidence is fun at first, but using it to scout footprints is not fun at all. Following footprints is used a few times and is never fun, it's a case of just walking around whilst looking at the floor, whilst occasionally swapping out the 'gun' for an actual weapon to fight another swarm of beasties.

The culprit of the murder becomes incredibly obvious in one of those 'secret mastermind'-trope kinda ways, but there are still a few twists in the tale.

Also, cut-scenes! If The Outer Worlds felt like a proof of concept for a bigger game, then this DLC felt like a continuation, adding some more elements like these that SHOULD make The Outer Worlds 2 a fleshed out 5/5 experience.

Truly disappointing in comparison to the main game. It was good to begin with, but all in all it took barely 2 hours and didn't really add anything worth playing through. The combat was also pretty lacklustre. I'd rather see a sequel or a new IP than the developer clinging on to the success of this game by grinding out more dlc.

The writing and characters maintains the charm of the base game and other DLC, and this DLC introduces some interesting concepts about life in Halcyon. However, I was sorely disappointed that through the murder myster plot every suspect has a credible but not ironclad alabi so that I hesitated greatly on making an accusation before finding out that it didn't matter who I accused because it always ended the same, but not before presenting the player with a very Fallout 3-esque "be good or be Hitler" moral choice. Still a good piece of content and look forward to a bigger, better, and bolder Outer Worlds 2

So queria dizer que comparado com a dlc anterior (Peril on Gorgon), essa traz uma historia muito mais envolvente e um misterio bem mais satisfatorio de investigar, apesar de mais generica. Ótimo plot twist no final, fiquei realmente surpreso, fica ai a recomendação.

The Outer Worlds: Murder on Eridanos is the last of two expansions which can be purchased separately or is already contained in the Spacer's Choice Edition.

You as a freelancer have to solve the murder of Halycon Helen who was murdered just before revealing the brand-new Spectrum Brown Vodka in the skies of Eridanos.
The map is amazing and having a quest where you have to solve a murder is a breeze of fresh air needed after the first DLC (Peril on Gorgon). The ending is great, featuring the best final boss fight in the game (better than the final boss fight in the main game).

All in all, a great quest and overall DLC. A must buy. If I have to choose which DLC of the two is better, Murder on Eridanos is my choice.

DLC ótimo que trabalha muito bem os pontos fortes do jogo, mas podia muito bem ter menos combate (ou nenhum combate)

About as good as the best parts of the main game, while adding some DLC-exclusive gameplay mechanics that help it feel fresh regardles of when you tackle it, in particular if you save it for right before you finish the main game.

All in all a must if you already liked the main game, its just more of the good stuff.

ran like absolute shit even tho the base game ran just fine

Preferred this a lot more to Gorgon. The investigating part wasn't perfect but was a lot of fun. Loved Eridanos and the characters I came across.

Much better than the Peril on Gorgon DLC, though that wasn't a bad DLC. This time around, it's a fun murder mystery set in a beautiful new location. It had a pretty interesting main quest, with a good amount of twists in there as well.

a diferencia del primer dlc, este está muy bien hecho, es un misterio de detectives que me dejó con ganas de jugar otro juego del estilo

While this DLC was more interesting than Peril on Gorgon, you wouldn't be missing out on anything by skipping it.

An excellent piece of DLC; absolutely brilliant, witty, and frankly hilarious writing

Detective quests made really cool, but nothing more. The outcome is not surprising, the area is actually pretty cool, but there is again a lack of real innovations. No new weapons, cool equipment or diverse opponents. There is also no new team member and basically nothing can be done in the Penthouse Suite.

The dialogues are strong again, but I just expected that. Now in the second DLC I was hoping for a lot more in terms of gameplay. The discrepancy amplifier was annoying.

Furthermore, I had to pause the game due to technical problems. You couldn't save until the last patch without crashing the game. The DLC also has texture reloaders or FPS drops (played on the Series X). Now with the newest Update the hard crash bug is fixed (09.04.2021).

Took me about 6 hours and would give 3/5 murder suspects.

Like its first piece of DLC, The Outer Worlds proved that a bit of ingenuity can go a long way when coupled with quality and a level of polish that exceeds the genre’s admittedly weak standards. The game didn’t do a whole lot of new things but it did them all so well. Murder on Eridanos, the game’s second and final piece of DLC, doesn’t sway from that pattern and caps off the incredible RPG with a killer expansion to die for.
