The first hours of the game are delightful. The humor is pretty good, the feeling of exploring and unknown planet and the art design is excellent.
However, during the journey, the game mechanics fails to evolve and it quickly became clear that they are gonna remain the same for full length. By the end of the game you can get a kinda bored with repeating the same gameplay loop over and over again; not to mention, the gunplay ain't that good either.
It had potential, but it fails to reach it.

A decently made action-adventure game. Journey to the Savage Planet is very upfront about its style of humor. If you don't enjoy immense amounts of satire or meta-humor, you'll probably be looking elsewhere.
Gameplay consists of traveling between various areas defeating enemies with all sorts of weird weapons and exploring a vivid world. Most systems in the game are on the shallower side, but if you can appreciate the game's light-hearted nature, you'll find a fairly fun experience to be had.
100%: Some Metroidvania-style achievements, such as eating every orange goo or finding all the Explorer Logs, will require some backtracking. You will need a friend to play with in order to get some achievements.

This was a game I was really excited for and bought on a sale then forgot to play for years. The game has character but it was quite the slog and the ending was really disappointing. I didn't end up going for the true ending of powering on the ship, as I was already burnt out by the normal ending. I looked up the cutscene and was glad I didn't go for it because I would have only left even more upset.
It’s a fun little exploration game with nice humour and cool hidden secrets with fun platforming puzzles to reach them BUT the gunplay is atrocious and there are too many fights. It didn’t really need this, it worked well enough with just exploration and environmental puzzles and quirky science challenges.
When everything is funny. Nothing is.
Journey to the Savage Planet just beat me down with the amount of pure nonsense. I like a funny game but this is just so stupid immediately.
The game is nice to look at I guess but it plays like a shittier No Man's Sky. So I guess play that instead. There is some fun to be had in the exploration if you get past how obnoxious the game is and really bad first person platforming.

100% in-game completion rate, all trophies earned aside from speedrun and co-op. Very much taking its cue from the Metroid Prime series, Journey to the Savage Planet presents a well-developed interconnected world to explore, populated by flora and fauna co-existing in a believable ecosystem. However, far from the somewhat dark themes of the Metroid games, the tone here is much more light-hearted, with humour at its core (albeit at times a little too slapstick for my liking) and bright, colourful imagery throughout. The exploration works well, with satisfying secrets to search out - the upgrades that help with their location are very much needed and balance things effectively, minimising the need to resort to a guide.
Another core part of the Metroid formula is of course the upgrade mechanics and while these are perfectly serviceable, there's nothing particularly novel here - expect weapon damage/ammo/reload improvements, a grapple, etc. Combat is also a little weak, though again, it does its job. All in all, Journey to the Savage planet is on the whole a little on the short side, but for as long as it lasts, there's a lot of enjoyment to take from it.

This game sits right in the middle of good and bad for me. The game is pretty fun right off the bat for the first few hours. I did this co-op with a friend, and I really liked the implementation of that feature a lot; it made the game a lot more enjoyable to me.
Buuuuut this game has a lot of weak points. The humor gets old and gets worse as the game goes on. It's almost as bad as Borderlands at some moments, maybe even a bit worse. A lot of the zones feel monotonous and not fun to explore too, especially at the end. The level design could have definitely used some work. The final area and boss in particular were both unfun and anticlimactic.
We did play the DLC too, and I DO think that was one of the better segments of the game. It still wasn't GREAT, but it was still fun enough.
Overall, this is the okayest game I've played in a while. I feel if I didn't have a friend to play this with, I probably wouldn't have finished it. I have more negative things to say than positive things, but the first few hours of the game ARE fun, and the DLC is good, too. But it kind of sucks that a game that took almost 9 hours to complete with DLC got tedious, when that's sort of short for a game like this.
