Just release Metroid Prime on the switch ffs

Decent fun if you play through it with a friend.

I loved the vibe, I loved the aggressive humor, I even loved the traversal but there's the stink of jank about this game (especially anything other than PC, and even a little then), and never in another game has the combat felt so weak and pathetic; this really needed to be just a puzzle game or something.

a fun, brief game that places you in a nightmarish capitalist future where your company runs every aspect of your life and asks you to scout a planet for potential growth opportunities. it is surprisingly funny and well-written, or at least it was for me. the gameplay loop of gaining new abilities that lets you solve new puzzles and discover new secrets feels very reminiscent of a metroidvania. i found it pretty satisfying. there isn't much depth, but it's enough given the short runtime of the game. for anyone who Portal was even sillier, more colorful, and was a bit more open, you could do much worse than this title!

This game is trying too hard to be good

Some dumb sci-fi fun.

Doubt I'll remember too fondly with the passing of time, but I enjoyed my time with it enough to get all of the collectibles/fill out the index.

Kicking those birds and shooting them mid-air was a really satisfying 1-2 combo.

Honestly its one of those games thats just perfect to mindlessly spin through in between bigger releases. Its not amazing, it certainly suffers from a lack of content and its combat mechanics are a little on the lackluster side but for a few hours, its fun to just throw yourself around the game world, grabbing all kinds of powerups and loot items and taking in the overall explorative nature of the game. Fun... Albiet limited fun. Perfect for a sale or Games Pass.

Decent little comedy Metroid Prime. Pretty impressed that most of the humor landed... not everything was a winner but props for actually getting more hits than whiffs. One of those games that was perfect for Game Pass, because I liked playing it but didn't feel compelled to 100% it and didn't love it enough to want to own it. A shame it's not there anymore, oh well. Biggest issue I had was that combat kinda sucked on console, though it didn't feel like it would've been much better on PC either. Just a bit clunky and lacking in options. None of the bosses were particularly great, with the final boss a standout of just not being fun or interesting at all.

mid but I had a craving. The gun feels nice to use

Commenti:
- ottimo metroidvania FPS, l’esplorazione viene molto premiata
- narrazione molto simpatica e frizzantina, senza scadere in battute imbarazzanti

played a bit of this on game pass, stopped for no reason (i was really enjoying my time but i guess i just couldnt make space for it) and then it left before i could finish. ouch.

The exploration is fun, upgrades are worthwhile, and I quite enjoyed the humour of the game. By the end aspects will start to wear out their welcome but overall an enjoyable experience.

When everything is funny. Nothing is.

Journey to the Savage Planet just beat me down with the amount of pure nonsense. I like a funny game but this is just so stupid immediately.

The game is nice to look at I guess but it plays like a shittier No Man's Sky. So I guess play that instead. There is some fun to be had in the exploration if you get past how obnoxious the game is and really bad first person platforming.

Ridiculously Fun Metroidvania. Would love to see more from this team and more games like this in general.

100% in-game completion rate, all trophies earned aside from speedrun and co-op. Very much taking its cue from the Metroid Prime series, Journey to the Savage Planet presents a well-developed interconnected world to explore, populated by flora and fauna co-existing in a believable ecosystem. However, far from the somewhat dark themes of the Metroid games, the tone here is much more light-hearted, with humour at its core (albeit at times a little too slapstick for my liking) and bright, colourful imagery throughout. The exploration works well, with satisfying secrets to search out - the upgrades that help with their location are very much needed and balance things effectively, minimising the need to resort to a guide.

Another core part of the Metroid formula is of course the upgrade mechanics and while these are perfectly serviceable, there's nothing particularly novel here - expect weapon damage/ammo/reload improvements, a grapple, etc. Combat is also a little weak, though again, it does its job. All in all, Journey to the Savage planet is on the whole a little on the short side, but for as long as it lasts, there's a lot of enjoyment to take from it.

Thought I'd give this a go as it's due to be taken off Game Pass at the end of the month.

I'm glad I did because there are lots of really good ideas in this, some sections are tremendous fun to play through.

However, I did find some aspects a bit unpolished. Sometimes, I don't think it know exactly what kind of game it's trying to be and it definitely falls into the trap of not being as good as other titles in the various genres it emulates.

For example, whilst there's nothing essentially wrong with the scanning mechanics, it's done so much better in NMS. Gun play is okay, but something we've seen done better in many other titles.

But what I did enjoy was the visuals and the b-movie style and feel. It's vibrant and gorgeous to look at, so many striking colours which fit the game perfectly and the layout of the levels is great (there's no map but I don't think it needs one). The cheesy videos that play back at the ship were awesome, though I did find myself skipping them by the end as I wanted to get back to the mission in hand.

The various power ups you have to work towards are also really good - using various flora as tools is also neat - I did enjoy the grapple berry sections and the shock fruits are VERY useful in combat. The feeling of progression is pitched just right with plenty more to upgrade and collect after the credits roll.

I try to avoid the phrase 'a perfect game for Game Pass' but this is exactly what this is! It's a title I wouldn't have looked at otherwise, it only took about 12 hours to get through the campaign (with plenty more to do afterwards should you feel the need) and I'm pleased that this kind of game is available on the service because it's neat, fun and enjoyable without ever being anything too groundbreaking.

loved that lil canadian robot bitch.
having a quad jump was a hoot. cute and fun for while it lasts, but not good enough to make me want to see and do it all

The humor is very hit or miss, but I enjoyed the light Metroidvania elements and it was a fun game to play for a couple nights with a friend.

This game sits right in the middle of good and bad for me. The game is pretty fun right off the bat for the first few hours. I did this co-op with a friend, and I really liked the implementation of that feature a lot; it made the game a lot more enjoyable to me.

Buuuuut this game has a lot of weak points. The humor gets old and gets worse as the game goes on. It's almost as bad as Borderlands at some moments, maybe even a bit worse. A lot of the zones feel monotonous and not fun to explore too, especially at the end. The level design could have definitely used some work. The final area and boss in particular were both unfun and anticlimactic.

We did play the DLC too, and I DO think that was one of the better segments of the game. It still wasn't GREAT, but it was still fun enough.

Overall, this is the okayest game I've played in a while. I feel if I didn't have a friend to play this with, I probably wouldn't have finished it. I have more negative things to say than positive things, but the first few hours of the game ARE fun, and the DLC is good, too. But it kind of sucks that a game that took almost 9 hours to complete with DLC got tedious, when that's sort of short for a game like this.

Journey to the Savage Planet is a lot better of an idea than it is as an actual game. Throughout the game, you get to see many different ideas that are pretty interesting sometimes, but there’s also a feeling of sloppiness to it all as well. Everything in this game just feels rough and not fully ready. The shooting feels bad, the platforming feels bad, everything feels bad. Honestly, the only reason I remember it fondly is cause I played it with a friend, which is something that adds a lot to the experience. Exploring a new planet and discovering new life is an idea that has so much potential and is something I would really like to play. It just sucks that when a game tries to follow this idea, it just ends up like this.

I have two main takeaways from this game. The first is that we don’t see nearly enough takes on the Metroid Prime formula, seeing as it is clearly enough to carry a game on its own. The second pertains to its humor; while it’s an misculated attempt to mimic the works of Paul Veerhoven that largely only lands as annoying, the grimness of the satire on display nonetheless managed to get under my skin. More ambition and less smugness would help the game stand out more but nonetheless, I’m just glad that somebody is working in this genre space once more.

the world needs more games shamelessly inspired by Metroid Prime, and this does a decent job of scratching that itch. yes, it's pretty flawed: the humor is sometimes grating, combat isn't great, there are a few annoying difficulty spikes, and the vaguely Soulslike "go back and find your loot near where you died" mechanic should have been replaced by a more conventional continue system, but overall, I had a lot of fun with exploration and traversal

I checked this out because similarities in aesthetic and humor made me wonder if High On Life was ripping it off. I'm here to begrudgingly report that High On Life is an improvement.

A decent game that kinda reminds me of Metroid Prime gameplay-wise. Its humor put me off, but the visuals and exploration were nice.
