Despite all it's shortcomings, the finale (especially the 4 hour boss rush) had me consistently crying. By the time don't think twice hit it's second half and Kairi was alone, shit just hit me hard. I've kept up with this series since it's inception and I have changed so much in that time, lost touch with so many friends, went to college etc.
It just strikes a cord with me that only this game (series in general) has.

This was a disappointment. Most of the Disney worlds feel bland and soulless (not the Toy Story one, that shit rocks) and the actual "Kingdom Hearts" part of the story is predictable to the point that it just feels like going through the motions. The game on any non-DLC difficulty level is far too easy and it really takes away from the battle systems. Side content pales in comparison to KH2. The new gummi ship stuff is cool, at least initially, but isn't that impressive after a while.
The Disney Worlds finally have enough detail and thought to be mostly interesting to traverse and look at. However the improvements mostly stop there. Between KH2 and KH3 the story has gone completely fucked even more than ever before. The game is plagued by uninteresting cutscenes, strange decisions, and an overall lack of satisfying elements. The core gameplay loop has gotten a bit fucked but is still mostly fine, the attractions are absolutely meaningless additions and the links are utterly useless and forgetful. The game is just a mix of strange decisions built upon the past strange decisions. Also the ending takes way too fucking long.
Nomura no te mereces mis lágrimas.

Simultaneously disappointing and surprising in different areas. Personally not what I wanted as a long time fan of series, but across multiple playthroughs, I've come to respect how it shows certain areas of the series at their best.
On the bright side, I don't think I've ever been more excited for the future of the series than I am now. And thankfully, the DLC is the best part of the game.

The "Long awaited" Kingdom Hearts 2 sequel that people weren't actually waiting all that long for because there were multiple game in between this and 2 that people could have played but didn't because those games are "spin offs". I mean. It was fun. Way too short, the plot was backloaded into one world basically and the majority of the run time is filler. The Shadow Aqua boss fight was pretty killer, though.
