Another okay game. I don't like how this game went back to Mega Man 2 with design, art, and game play. What made games after 2 so much better were the new additions. It really made this game even less memorable.

This... might honestly be my favorite Mega Man.

Capcom: Te gusta mega man 2? a nosotros si y mucho, aca lo tenes de vuelta

the BEST classic game, almost purely for the weapons

OST CUMS. GAMEPLAY ROCKS MY COCK. WEAPONS ALL SLAP. DEM STAGES. IS GOT DE NOSTALGIC LOOK THAT LOOKS GOOD. MEGAMAN 9/10 BAYBEEEEEEE OBJECTIVE PEAK OF THE OG MEGAN MAN FRANCHISE

This would be the best 8-bit Megaman if every stage wasn't generally easy but had 1/2 pitfalls that were near-impossible to clear without insane practice

This is one of the most disappointing games in my life

Though I don't like the weapon balancing (there is little reason to use any weapons besides than Jewel Satellite, Black Hole Bomb, and Laser Trident) I do find the roster itself to be decent regardless, more than I thought so originally at that, the music is great as always, and I really like the cinematics... but the difficulty is all over the place. The stages are annoyingly peppered with spikes or other insta-kill paths, while the bosses have painfully dull and predictable patterns that are able go down with ease even in buster-only scenarios. Sure, exceptions exist, but overall this is just how 9 is

But whatever, all that said the game was still decent... but then the Wily sections start and the good qualities it had immediately faded away for having the worst parts of the stages and difficulty be more prevalent than ever, especially with Wily's last phase doing more damage to YOU than you can do to HIM, even with the right strat and mindset.

I don't think theres ever been a more successful 'new old-school' game ever made. It nails exactly what makes classic megaman good, and even as a hardcore classic megaman fan i think 9 is by a long shot the best one. Everything is cleaned up, bullshit removed, and at peak performance. The music is GOAT, the pixel art is GOAT, its a fucking masterpiece

I now understand why Inti Creates is so respected.

Hardest game in the Classic series yet also the most tightly and rewardingly designed. This is peak platformer design, especially on Superhero.

Probably my favorite Mega Man classic game. Had a good amount of everything. Good difficulty, good music, good boss designs, fun and balanced weapons, etc.

One of the best titles in the classic series, but it's higher difficulty may turn some people off.

Gameplay is the absolute best in the classic series. Turns out you don't need unnecessary frills like slides or jetpacks or snowboarding levels to have fun, all you need is good level design. Of which this game absolutely excels at. Just raw perfection in level design. Also a killer soundtrack helps.

It's just mega man 2 again. you like mega man 2 right? it feels good to play because it's literally just mega man 2 again, and that's fine I guess.

imagine releasing a nes game in 2008 lmfaaaoooo

shit my pants when this was first revealed, but now that mm10 is out it is definitely more "retro-pandering" than feeling like a proper "retro-style" game like 10 and that kinda takes away from it a bit. still kino tho

best set of weapons in the classic series by a long shot but every stage has like 1 section that kicks my nuts

I like the power-ups. Spikes and pits suck. And no slide?

I love everything about this game except the removal of Charge Shot and Slide. If Protoman wasn't miserable to play, this would probably a higher up game on my list. It was a good return from a long hiatus tho. but now we have 11, so that's just an accolade.

Splashwoman makes me go awooga tho, so 11/10

How the original Mega Man Games can have so many fans is one of the little things about humanity I find to be completely incomprehensible.

Nostalgia bait that removes mechanics people liked and thinks placing spikes everywhere or having stages that are enetirely disappearing blocks is what made NES games fun. It isn't. This game isn't "Nintendo hard", it's "bad NES design."

Splash Woman made me realize I may be a lesbian (spoiler alret: I am a lesbian).

Many would say Mega Man 9 is a return to form after the first SNES entry with 7 and the wildly unpopular 8. The gap from 8 to 9 is pretty big at 12 years and Inti Creates manages to make a homage to the NES style of Mega Man (specifically 2) that works well with consoles from 2 generations ago but manages to bring back the old pains of the NES games with it.

I can safely say Mega Man 9 has the best tight control and feel of any NES Mega Man game, there's little or completely no lag to movement. The weapons here are easily the best of the NES here with every weapon fulfilling a niche well to a degree other than the Concrete Shot which was used for the bosh rush and occasional stage hazards. Also felt the music here had a lot more going on with Galaxy Man's stage track just being a bop.

With that said, reverting to the NES style of Mega Man was cool but I felt like they took it a bit too far here. The removal of charge shot and slide were mechanics I enjoyed and made certain boss fights more mechanically engaging than just jumping at the right time. Not to mention the abundance of spikes compared to the past entries with some NES titles included made for much more challenging and tricky jumps than before. This game is notorious for its difficulty and it shows. Much less room for mistakes here.

Despite the grievances I have with the game, mostly in terms of the difficulty and removal of gameplay mechanics from the previous titles. This game does manage to bring back some of the classic gameplay that fans of 2 might enjoy and all in all a very solid title. I can see why people why adore this one a lot.

great return to clasic mega man. one of the harder games too.

this one has more than one woman in it

SplashWOMAN? Has feminism gone too far?

Some of the bosses are slightly annoying to fight. I always hate going against Magmaman and Tornadoman.
