In terms of single-player content, it is not as good as Brawl. But this has the most balanced roster of any game before it making it the most fun game to play casually and competitively.

There kinda just isn't a bad smash game.

Ultimate is pretty much a better version of this, but I kind of liked how slow this was lol.

The character select menu is organized in a way that actually makes it possible to find Fire Emblem Jim, so it's automatically a less frustrating experience than Ultimate

What happens when the honeymoon period for your videogame is wasted on its inferior portable release, you say? The answer is you get bored and critical of the ways the game sucks more than the initial inferior release! This game singlehandedly made the case for what the switch is today.

Great with some friends. Single player content leaves something to be desired. Getting to the point where some fighters feel the same.

It's a fun party/fighter but can be very janky at times. Ulitmate improves on smash u in a lot of places.

I feel like Smash 4 didn't have an identity like the rest of the Smash games. It was basically just a weaker Ultimate with some characters being entirely too busted. With that said, it's still a solid entry in the Smash series.

Here's the thing... now that Ultimate exists there's absolutely zero reason to play this. Smash 4 has very little solo content, and the multiplayer of Ultimate is pretty much just unquestionably better.

ivysaur isn't in the game

The fighting part of the game is nearly perfect. What hurts it is the lack of sigle player appeal, as today it is very difficult to play with friends locally and the online doesn't work well (and one day will go down). Multiplayer is top notch. Taking out some characters to put in a ton of Fire Emblem characters was a bad decision, though. I like it, but I'll probably like Ultimate more, as soon as I can play it.

You can play as Duck King, so don't tell me this game isn't good.

I have lots of fond memories with this game. unfortunately its completely outclassed by ultimate nowadays

It's better mechanically than the first three smashes but Smultimate invalidates everything about its existence except for Smash Run/Tour

Tried so hard to get in competitive for this game but it was horrible for it. Still have deep nostalgia for it even though it is easily the worst smash game.

I used to like this one a lot but in terms of casual play, Brawl and Ultimate outclass it and in terms of competitive play every other smash game outclasses it in my eyes. The only thing it does better than any of the other Smash games is online play
