Giving this a numerical rating seems wrong as it belongs in an art gallery. Not in that it does anything particularly artsy (though it does), but in that you could beat this game in one sitting in an art gallery showroom and would have a much more powerful experience than sitting in your computer chair or on the couch. Someone should try this...
Walking simulators aren't really my preferred genre even though I love visual novels. There's something about the act of physically moving around an environment that makes me wish I could interact with more than I could and it's hard for me to split the difference. This is a really impressive piece of work with some extraordinarily clever & sad bits that'll stick in my memory . Wish I could have experienced it not in my comfort zone.

The best "walking simulator" post Dear Esther. Incredibly beautiful with a very compeling story centered around several generations of an unlucky family. The closest game is probably Gone Home, although this one has a better narrative and more engaging "gameplay". The short flashbacks for each family member are very creative. Loved it and recomend to fans of the genre.
This is a deeply moving story told in a unique and creative way. It takes full advantage of the medium and there are some truly incredible moments here, including one near the end that I think makes this game worth buying all on its own. It's barely a game, more of a storybook, but the story is rich enough both in what it tells you and what you can discover on your own that it's well worth a play.
