Now, this is a proper series climax! And I climax too! Publix Instagram pool which one of us had the best climax? Nah it's me so let's get into this game. It goes from a pale copy to a parody of the series within the first 30 minutes. Now, there are officially more teddy bears than I have fingers. We don't need motives Monokuma, I have a decent one for every spawn of yours. Speaking off, deaths have become grittier, haven't they? I know it's like that gif of Spongebob and Patrick riding a rollercoaster, but still. Kodaka can't stray too far from the recipe if he wants the meal to be recognizable.

Thank the heavens Shuichi is likeable, else we would have a really big problem here! Luckily, he fulfills his role well in spite of the naysayers. He has more personality than he let on at the start, kinda like Chiaki? Regardless my two scrunklies are Himiko and Kaito. I cannot live without them, but can they live with me? Nop, they're fictional wink wink. Massive crush on Angie and Tsumugi, also I guess Keebo, but I wasn't interested in girls before V3, huh in Danganronpa universe atleast. That's a lie I'm not forgetting Mahiru, she's still here in fact... as Tenko (ignore this foolish statement lest you crave lack of media literacy).

These minigames be a little nutty. Scrum Debate and Psyche Taxi are iconic enough to vouch for the rest. Imagine like, pulling up to the function to argue with a mf like Kokichi Oma lmao I'd drive bitches in my head too. Look, Kokichi is a figment of our imagination that's why I won't say anything more concerning this sorry ass individual. I loved when he said "I am not in danger Skyler, I am the danger!!" though. Kokichi is what we all would be if our major milestone into the adult life was graduating elementary school and not highschool.

That's a great way to end the trilogy ngl. Dangan always has fire endings. Kodaka hasn't brought this heat outside of Akudama Drive lately. V3's UI is fantastic, so are sprites, but the CGs look sabotaged ahah, different artist, you did good work, but it's just not very Dangan with its offputting (compliment) and wacky visual identity. Look, I know these games like Dangan and OMORI choose to be edgy and that's a popular word for kids aged 12 to 17, but these two series deserve more. A romance between a toxic male and a strong independant woman being as poignant and deep as it is speaks volumes. Kaede, Shuichi, Kaito... ungodly amount of rizz.

Game art, UI and music was so beautiful, but this game was so full of wasted potential and so hard to get through without rolling my eyes every 5 minutes. So many amazing ideas wasted and the tropes from the previous two games were used, making this game so predictable. Only once did my mouth open in shock in any reveal, which was Chapter 1's twist. But it would've been way better if we were initially playing Shuichi then he died and we started playing as Kaede. I guessed correctly who the mastermind was in CHAPTER 1. The second case was the only decent one but it was ruined at the end by that stupid Maki reveal. The third case was abysmal, they had the opportunity to have a different killer for the second victim and have them continue living to cause tension, but no. Also the victims and killer were easy to predict. Chapter 4, despite the interesting case, I guessed correctly who will be murdered and who will be the killer at the very beginning of the chapter. Same with Chapter 5. Even though the idea of the victim being unknown was a great idea, due to the previous tropes and lack of characters, it was painfully obvious who was dead and who was the killer. The characters were more annoying than the previous two main games, and the ones I actually liked and didn't find annoying bar Gonta were all dead by Chapter 3. The game took no risks and was way too safe. Until the ending. Once I reached the "big twist", I quit. Couldn't see it through. I just watched the rest on Youtube. Also regarding two of the three survivors, Maki is the most unlikeable out of the 16 students and Himiko is annoying. Worst murder mystery I've played yet.

The fanbase behind this particular Danganronpa entry is enough to knock down my review a half-star (ONLY a half-star though.) A lot of the twists in this one were extremely predictable as well. But I’ll give it to the last trial— That one really got me.
The characters, soundtrack, and aesthetics were as fun as always!

my brother quotes kokichi laugh 24/7 and because of it I can't take this game seriously anymore

Our favourite schizophrenic loser game hit the big time. Budget is high and everything looks and sounds awesome. Trials one, four, and five are genuine highlights of the series. The reveals in this one had me geeking and jumping out of the seat and shit but that's also because I'm a clown. Love some of the characters, and the roster that lives past like case three is actually pretty stacked. Unfortunately the ending is half good and half obnoxious. The big twist comes of as a writer that hates their product, and is opting to just shoot it in the head rather than talk about it. The social commentary is pretty neat though and added "real fiction" to my vocabulary. I like Kokichi but he does not compare to my boy Nagito (or Shuichi). Other characters like Kaito, Maki, Rantaro, Kaede, Himiko, Kii-bo, and Gonta are all pretty great and I think the writers really pulled together a bunch of really good character arcs and dynamics that are exciting and satisfying to watch.

THIS FUCKER. THIS FUCKING GAME RUINED MY LIFE. I HOPE THE DEVS ALL EXPLODE.

When I tried to play this my game corrupted after I started trial 1 and i considered that a sign from God

absolute peak and you weren't ready for it

i miss kaede

Really liked the protagonist arc it close too close home, gamplay wise the minigames are at it best here and i still really liked solving the caseshere.

The last trial is really controversial but i dont think is bad and i liked its message even if half of it was a mind fuck were i dint know if was liking it or not but i think that was intentional

i don't have any more rhymes for -ife but this is marginally better than the other two

At first I hated the ending, but when I replayed it I kind of began to appreciate it. I hope it stays that way so there never has to be another Danganronpa game again

it’s good. i love u rantaro and your gender will be mine

Best cast, presentation, overall soundtrack. I think the end was a little funny, a tad confusing. Some mixed signals.
I think this is the best DR game.

This game is longer than it needed to be. None of the minigames are fun. Cases will bring up obvious reveals but through the lens of a slow taxi game, making plot points drag. Other times they will talk in circles in an effort to make class trials last longer.
The extra modes you unlock after beating the game are horrid. Just awful. I think the character interactions are cute and the idea doesn't seem too bad- IT'S BAD. If you fail to roll high enough to complete laps before time runs out, all of that progress is lost...? Who's idea was this?? Horrible. So much grinding you have to do, across multiple runs. Hard pass.
Also, every Danganronpa game has HORRIBLE audio mixing. It's impressive.

The first trial made me cry harder than anything ever has, so good job on that.

Danganronpa 'V3' is a courageous-enough effort from its creators to engage in (productive) discussion.

To discuss the morality of what goes on in our little brains that we enjoy a game about killing.

To discuss the value found in the stories told between that.

And finally, to discuss the fact that it's all made up.

By writing its entire narrative on the thematic of ''truths and lies'', Danganronpa's creator and writer Kazutaka Kodaka manages to spread a philosophy so blatantly obvious it's almost hard to understand; stories are make-believe tales we tell ourselves as a method of coping.
They help us navigate a world which at times feels hard to believe is real. And in that context, even the most absurd, out-of-this-world, made-up BULLSHIT narrative— has inherent meaning.

Danganronpa finishes wishing for its audience to understand the importance of some of these lies, and the immense difference a few of them can make on to the real world.
Although... somewhat ironically, I fear this sort of loaded conversation has unfortunately flown over more than a couple heads.

Deserves a shoutout for the ending harboring all my hatred since 2018.
