Somehow ... the best Danganronpa? Crazy.
The game outstays its welcome a tad, the arcade machines are too plentiful and the animations accompanying are too long.
Core gameplay is surprisingly fun! Turn that aim sensitivity to low as possible and it feels great to play on Keyboard/Mouse.

First playthrough was on "Despair mode" (hard mode) and it was a very nice time. Not all that hard at all. The only things I died to were getting knocked into bottomless pits or that one boss, so I got the QTE revive minigame tutorial near the end of the game!
Turns out, there are unique death animations for every enemy, I almost missed out on that detail entirely.
The limited ammo isn't really an issue either, as the game will throw out ammo pickups when you're out. Money is also a non issue on hard as you get increased coin pickups, making upgrades easy to get.
Switching to Toko right before an attack hits feels really good! Because she's invincible, she can tank some of the more annoying attacks on a whim. Collectibles are not that exciting, but harmless at worst.

One more bit about the arcade machines. They are so jank. There will be times where you have to kill all the enemies in one go. I'll shoot a dance bullet at a siren kuma that's in the path of a car. I wait for all kumas to gather. I shoot a move bullet at the car. It misses 1 monokuma. Wellllp. Did the intended solution and it just didn't work. Stealth missions are also complete hogwash with there being no clear view cones on enemies. At least you're allowed to move on without clearing the goal, but it does hurt the completionist/ranking angle.

Chapter 3 is so insane and probably why the game has a pretty terrible review average. It's uncomfortable. It's gross. But it's memorable? That was their intent and it worked. It'll stick with ya. Better or for worse.
Now, the final chapter? Amazing. My favorite Danganronpa chapter ever. I initially kept picking what I thought was the "bad" ending, only for the game to keep stringing me along with more pleas to pick the other option. It was so ridiculous. Loved every bit of it. The final boss was also a great use of most of my tools, with spectacle to boot. Fun stuff!

I truly could not wait for this to be over.

NO lo juegues delante de tus padres.

anyone who enjoys this should be put under a watchlist and away from playgrounds.

I respect the bravery of whoever brought up the idea of turning a spin-off to Danganronpa into a third-person shooter (as well as the madness of everyone who agreed) but it just does not work that well. Komaru and THAT scene are the only things worth mentioning regarding this game.

gross, awful, broken and sexually problematic, i love toko fukawa

not even the tokomaru yuri could save this game

This game was so much of nothing and this is the most mixed reviews ive ever seen

superbestfriendsplay do not fuckin' play with me.

take a wild guess what are the protags. hint: it starts with an L and ends with an S

It should be like 3 hours shorter

Kind of gets a bad rap. There's a good story here somewhere. But it's bogged down but a lot of unfunny moments, and awful pacing.

But you know what? I LIKE the gameplay. Once again though, the characters are the best part. That's kind of a theme with Danganronpa, truly.

Only Toko and Komaru are the good parts about this game

This game reignited my hate for Danganronpa

My fiancee and I tried to get through this after finishing DR1 in our effort to play (well, watch for her) through the entire series together, especially because she loved Toko in the first game, but after however many months it's been of me trying to force myself through this and finding any excuse not to pick it back up again every time I close it, I just... can't anymore.

The story was interesting, I really did try to stick to it for the sake of that and the twists and the narrative connection to the series (I've never met Nagito before, for example, as I've never played the rest of the main games and am relatively unspoiled, so I wanted to see what was up with him here), but it's just not worth it.

The controls are excruciatingly awful, as is the camera, the characters are exhausting, the combat is janky, most of the minigames are tedious and repetitive, and the graphics are distractingly bad. Every non-main NPC is just the same two featureless silhouettes copy-and-pasted across the map, and the handling of themes like child abuse, body/facial dysmorphia, mental illness, and sexual assault are cartoonishly offensive.

And I didn't even get as far as all the pedophilia stuff.

Alright, all I'm gonna say is that I liked Komaru and I remember liking the gameplay at times. Still a majorly shit game though.

I'm fully convinced this game was made in an attempt to kill of the Danganronpa franchise, because absolutely none of the decisions in this game make any sense lucratively.

Nice continuation/spin off of first game. I dropped it after the third chapter after getting stuck on a boss, but I plan on finishing it eventually

Maybe my bias for Danganronpa is making me lean towards liking this game but damn I think this is an okay game I like the third person shooter gameplay sometimes and some of the characters are okay especially Nagisa and even Toko was cool in this game but the story elements most of the time are so bad and chapter 3 is probably one of the worst pieces of media I've ever consumed in my life its not fun to play and its disgusting to boot and they took what could have been a cool fight with Komaru and Toko and made it so weird like that just pissed me off I think in general this is the lowest point of the Danganronpa series
