Even after playing it for 20 hours, I'm not sold on it. The core mechanics aren't bad, but I don't like this type of survival game, which requires you to look up the Wiki to do anything more than some basic crafting.
I played it with my friends for 20 hours, and while it was fun, I felt lost and was just doing whatever my friend told me to.

I personally love Terraria better than Minecraft because it is more difficult and has more content than it. The bosses are very different and all have unique things about them. The NPC's that move into your village are super useful and great to have as well. You can also mod the game which just takes it to another level of content. 5/5!!
Pretty much a "2D Minecraft" as anyone else would suggest, with probably more emphasis on combat and diversity of enemies.
It's neat to explore and learn about the game without much onboarding. However, there is so much hidden and undiscoverable beneath the surface (pun intended), that might only show up in Wikis for the game.

I was a Minecraft kid growing up, so playing Terraria for the first time was a rather daunting experience. Granted, playing with a controller never really did this game any favors. I'm therefore glad I bought the game again when I got a PC, as once I'd realized how much more this game appealed to me as a largely single-player gamer, there was no going back.
Terraria is one of the most relaxing games I've played, while simultaneously providing enough action and challenge to never be boring. With a plethora of different weapons and armors, you'll find yourself fighting the game's huge rogues-gallery with a widely different build every single playthough.
All of this isn't even mentioning possibly the greatest modding community in any game ever, so good it honestly makes the base game worse once you've tried it (this 9/10 is your fault, Magic Storage). Still, I cannot think of a game more deserving of the highest rating on Steam, and would recommend it to anyone even vaguely interested in video games.
