fire emblem can be sick as hell when it's not wholly focused on making characters Fuck
story is great, some of the best voice acting i've seen, beautiful presentation and artstyle, but it gets bogged down by being a remake of a famicom game from the 90s. poison swamps, shit-ass desert levels that take up a good chunk of celica's route (which is the only reason to use pegagus knights at all)... plus they kept in stupid gimmicks like whatever the hell is going on with jedah.
yet somehow none of that ruins the game for me! i still think this is hands-down my favorite fire emblem, it just hits so differently than other FE games. nothing compares to getting a 60% crit rate on deen and just sweeping the whole damn game

First and foremost, the presentation on this game is fantastic. The artstyle, voice acting and UI is an absolute treat to feast your eyes on and is almost worth playing the game by itself. Unfortunately, as a pretty faithful remake to an NES game, the gameplay defenitely is a black sheep of the franchise. The maps are wide open fields and enemies line up in big squares to swarm you instead of being thoughtfully placed, and there's a lot of weird mechanics like witches teleporting wherever they please and that damn Jedah fight. If you can look past the flaws though there are a lot of interesting things to play around with like the unique magic lists for every character, the art system, dungeon crawling and the dual storylines. Kind of funny how in the remake they added 3 original characters with completely different levels of writing quality with Faye being awful, Conrad being mediocre and Berkut/Reina being fantastic.
In terms of a remake, this is an especially excellent game, though that's a given considering its original is an 8-bit NES game that had major flaws. But they not only improved it massively, but added plenty of content.
With an especially colorful cast of characters in every way from voice, design, and personality that also extends to its protagonists, side characters, and villains (Especially a certain villainous heir with a great voice performance)
this game will absolutely make you feel invested with these characters instead of seeing them as just a bunch of numbers.
The gameplay is also very unique, not hesitating to recreate the "Black Sheep Game" feel of the original game. Though some elements still remain flawed such as the enemy cantor class remaining unbalanced and annoying, along with the map designs remaining a lot to be desired. They don't break the game at all, along with this game's unique dungeon exploration segments being interesting.
However, the main appeal of most Fire Emblem games are their replayability, but this is a game that can really be experienced in one way. But it's an enjoyable time nonetheless.
And the soundtrack is just absolutely gorgeous such as "What Lies at the End", "Heritors of Arcadia", and "A Song of Bygone Days" being just a few hits in an amazing list of tracks in this game.

My favorite FE title to date. The art style is just gorgeous, majority of the supports are well written and the story is awesome (albeit there's some questionable decisions made for the plot to progress). Some downsides is the maps are a little too faithful to the original leading too annoying maps as well as some of the new characters weren't the best additions imo.
Some well designed maps and decent story. Having the two different parties allowed for more characters to get their chance to shine on the battlefield. The actual unit types didn’t seem very balanced and I eventually benched a chunk of the cast and started wrecking enemies. Despite some parts of the map being too vulnerable to repetitive random battles, I liked the game. All complaints are minor. I’d like to see an expansion of some ideas here, with more fleshed out dungeons being a main one. Simplistic story is a strong point.
