Very influential game, and was interesting to look back on what games used to be like. There are very creative choices, such as weapons like the needler. The enemy AI and open world were revolutionary at the time, and have somewhat held up. The gunplay is basic, but enjoyable. My biggest problem with this game is the map and level design, as in the later parts of the game they drag on. Many of the areas are the exact same, and the game can become a chore to get through. The final level's escape scene was grueling, as the vehicle controls were terrible and every time the Warthog crashed, I misclicked and got into the side or gunner seat instead of the driver. It's a nitpick, but it significantly dampered my excitement of the end. If you're like me, ABSOLUTELY DO NOT binge play this game, you'll get burnt out. I believe the best way to play is in bursts, as there is still enjoyment to be found. I am disapointed by this game, as I expected a classic, and it may be for others but absolutely isn't for me. I wanted to like it, but there was so much that ruined it for me. Lots of people grew up with this game, and I believe if I did as well I'd love it. If you've read this whole thing and are a Halo fan, are the other games any better? Halo 2 and Reach are the only ones I'd play afterword, but I'm so burnt out on shooters and this game left such a poor taste I'm not gonna for a WHILE. have a good day:D

the look and feel of the original halo is seriously underrated and has heavily influenced my taste in gaming, movies, shows, books, etc. no surprise to anyone that most people who played this just switched to the OG graphics lol

The cutscenes are great but I'm not a huge fan of some of the level changes.

O level design deu uma envelhecida por causa da repetição de cenários, mas nada que tire a qualidade e a diversão do jogo.

"Acho que está apenas começando"

How do you make an anniversary and make the graphics worse its disgraceful

While I'm very late to the Halo party, I still enjoyed my time a lot.

The artstyle is striking and aged gracefully. Weapon design is amazing and satisfying, with weapons like the pistol being one of my all-time favorites. And I don't think I need to flatter the music any more than you heard before.
However the remastered visuals are so generic and blind to the original art direction its painful, it's like they didn't even have an idea about how the original looked. Not the textures, nor the models nor the lighting. I switched it every few locales just to marvel at how bad and unfaithful it is.

The plot kicks off mid-action, as Master Chief is thawed to combat pursuing Covenant forces. Then as you fight through Halo you come upon The Flood. So you're always on the move with barely any time to ponder the situation.
There aren't many variations in each faction but the design doesn't make it feel lacking at all.

Firefights are usually too close to comfort and keeps you on your feet. Since most weapons are for mid-range combat at best (unless you decide to spam shots at a distance) you always need to keep on your feet to avoid damage. The assault rifle was iffy because while it spits rapidly, it doesn't deal much damage and has a relatively high TTK so I found myself swapping it rather quickly.
Level design has a stark split. While levels like halo and cartographer are wide outdoors with changes of scenery, some others like control room and the library felt like going through samey corridors with identical layout, basically filler chapters in terms of gameplay.

While not flawless, it's a strong launch-pad for such a franchise and makes me more excited for what to expect from it's sequels.

Soy una pequeña perra con los shooters.

The overall gameplay I honestly enjoyed which was surprising for a game thats more than 20 years old. Reading the the book that goes along with this game really improved the story for me. Just the game things are much more "goofy" and not as serious. The books definitely have a much more serious tone which I find more enjoyable. Side Note: 343 Guilty Spark was easily my favorite mission in the entire game

(Note: This is part of me going through all of the campaigns in the Master Chief Collection, my thoughts are only gonna be about the campaigns and nothing related to the multiplayer/online play)

While the campaign started to get bullshit around Mission 8 or so, I still had a lot of fun with it. The story was incredibly interesting (Though I wasn't sure what was happening half the time until the end), the combat and weapons felt incredibly varied and fun to use, the pacing was very tight, and the whole thing felt super immersive. Outside of the sudden difficulty spike, being unable to make properly save states like a lot of other FPS games I'm used to, and not being able to keep weapons in between missions/when you resume a file early in a mission, I can see why people bought an Xbox just for Halo. It still feels very fun and refreshing to play even after over 20 years.

Juego que revolucionó la historia de los shooters en consola, la historia muy buena junto con su gameplay. Lo único que me causa conflicto es lo repetido que son los escenarios.

lil bro's first playthrough

One of these most iconic shooters of all time, the weapons, characters enemies verticals all instant classics due to this game. And with the new updated graphics, this game looks better than ever.

An extra large kudos goes to 343 for allowing players to experience this title the way the original creatives intended. Halo is hauntingly atmospheric and much of the magic of the experience lies in the moody environments of each level, even as environments began to re-appear from earlier excursions. Enemy and ally AI ooze character are impressive by today's standards. Grunts running in panic after their leaders are assassinated, flood getting frustrated when missing shots and opting to go out swinging, allies apologizing for friendly fire, so on and so fourth. Gunplay is simple but the Covenant and the Flood offer exactly as much enemy variety is needed to experience Halo's ensemble of extremely fun weaponry.

The back half of the campaign is where the experience begins to chug. The Library and Two Betrayals in particular are significantly longer than they perhaps ought to be and environments that were once breathtaking start to get a little stale on their second go around. Halo: CE would legitimately be one of the best FPS games ever made if each level had just one or two segments scraped off the top.

[Closer to a 7 than a 5]

Los FPS no son muy de mi agrado, pero salvo unas secciones que se hacen tediosas es muy divertido.

Halo deserved better for its anniversary, only not rating it lower cause it's still CE

Second time I've beaten this, and I enjoyed it a lot more this time around. Knowing there was some repetition with some of the levels reusing areas made it less of a chore, bit still dragged it down a bit.

I found a nice rhythm with it this time. Enjoyed making use of the sniper rifle, and the shotgun came in handy against the flood. I think paying attention to the story a bit more this time around helped too. I never used to care, as I just enjoyed blasting space freaks and stealing vehicles.

The updated visuals are nice overall, but in some areas can make it confusing where I needed to go next. No way point and scooby doo corridors had me going the wrong way on more than one occasion.

Otherwise, I've had a good time. Even better than the last time I played it. The games only improve as they go on (well, 5 is the exception, but that's a blip) so I'm looking forward to playing through them all again.

this uh. kinda blows? don’t get me wrong: i love the og aesthetic (not a huge fan of the remastered graphics personally), i love the music, the ai is clever and tricky (with one exception), sound design is punchy.

these level designs came from the bowels of hell. constantly disoriented, always confused. shout out to the ikea arrows in levels and special shout out to the waypoint that frankly should’ve always been visible or able to be summoned with a button press.
the flood sucks. the warthog sucks. christ its like driving on black ice everywhere (that final level was awful bc of its physics and its innate and constant desire to flip over when encountering even the slightest bump.)

Very fun but also really repetitive, everything from the '343 Guilty Spark' level to the very end was kinda boring when compared to the beginning and middle of the game. I do appreciate Cortana and Chief's dialogue.

had some good laughs playing this with friends

A fairly soulless cash grab that added DLC for the worst title in the series and a decent (but almost immediately outdated) graphical overhaul for the original title.

An amazing game and a stellar introduction to the Halo universe. Legendary difficulty wasn't for me, played through on Heroic and loved it.

2.5 stars for letting you switch between good graphics(old) and bad graphics(new) to see how much better the original was

Easily the worst version of one of the best games.

Annoyingly hard at some points, but overall, very enjoyable, and one of the most entertaining stories in gaming.
