A very addicting gameplay loop. Combat is satisfying and the parkour mechanics are implemented very well. I've done pretty much everything available in the game, yet I'm still never bored with it. The maps are geared towards utilizing the abilities you're given, and there are so many playstyles available to experiment with. Additionally, the day/night cycle in this game is brilliantly unique and genuinely created a stressful, horrific atmosphere that complemented the tone of the game.
However, I do have some gripes aside from the gameplay itself. For instance, a few of the main missions felt out of place, and the level design in some were somewhat lackluster. Plus, pretty much every side quest is a fetch quest, making the narratives feel very redundant even though the core gameplay remained enjoyable. Along with this, the story is just cliche after cliche told in a superfluous manner. That being said, I don't think people play zombie games looking for a good story, but it did lower my opinion nevertheless.
Even with the flaws I think it has, I still loved playing Dying Light and will definitely recommend it to anyone interested.

it's fine, maybe i'm too wimpy for it because i stopped playing as soon as they started letting me out at night, but i just found the map kind of annoying to get around and the story wasn't really keeping me engaged. the combat feels like when you try to run in your dreams which is just stacking on top of the frustration but on positives it is quite a unique environment and the parkour elements are a fun addition.
maybe i'm just bored of zombies these days who knows

dying light is an insanely good game
everything that was presented during my experience was incredible
the setting of the game is very good, when there is an explosion or even when there is a loud sound you can hear the zombies becoming alert and enraged, doors being broken into and screams in the distance, this game brought one of the best experiences of progression in terms of gameplay the system skill tree have a very satisfactory progression basically everything you do counts, the story of the game is pretty cool and it has memorable characters.

It's crazy how many games I compare to Dying Light even now. Here we are in 2023 and Dying Light 2 can't beat the first game, Dead Island 2 can't beat it and etc. The first Dying Light is atmospheric action that shows you how regular people are more dangerous than zombies, the nights are deadly (hi, DL2) and - well - just as light in the title, the hope for the rescue is slowly dying while you're completing the plot. Most sidequests are interesting and smashing zombies feels good and satisfying (hi, Dead Island 2).
