A great step up from the first. Refined the gameplay and buffed the music and stage structure. Great stuff.

Played via Mega Man Legacy Collection on PC.

A massive improvement from the first game. One of the few times where an NES sequel to an NES is better than the first game (think of Mario, Zelda, Castlevania, etc.). In MM1, I felt forced to do the boss order or I will have a worse time. In this game, though I did do the boss order, most bosses feel accomplishable with the default power, which is nice to see.

Hard to give this game a higher rating, as there is still remnants of cheap level design, but overall seems much more fair. Boombeam Trap being the main point of contender for an unfair level.

Iconic in every way and the Mega Man game to play if you have never tried one before. Super approachable even for an NES game.

"Welcome to the Salty Spitoon, how tough are ya?"
"How tough am I? I beat Man Man 2 on the Difficult setting."
"Yeah, so?"
"Without using Metal Man's power up"
"Right this way..."

A fine game that I'm deeply relieved is not the 80s platformer every single indie game in existence is attempting to be.

cringe, bugou o boss final mt ruim

Man idk the ending is kinda BS and I don't think anything before it really blows my mind

Megaman 2, what a massove improvement to the original game and formula it created. Better abilities, better platforming and stage design and of course, better music.

I dont believe this to be the perfect legend some claim it to be, but this game is a massive improvement over the previous title in almost every way. Its just a good time, and quite enjoyable.

Whoever designed the Boobeam trap needs a stern talking to

Its really good. Music slaps as the kids say. Heat Man's block section is really hard, but I felt really good when I was able to do it. I know that you can just use one of the items, but I wanted the challenge. Its just really solid. The levels are really good. There's one boss that uses the crash bomb that's really annoying, but otherwise, its pretty litty. Mega Man is slippery though, so thats not fun. Otherwise, just good

Honestly would say the game is overrated, I guess the game has slightly more fair level design on average compared to 1? Weapon balance is disgusting, pretty much all of the weapons bar Metal Blade feel horrible to use during the stages.

Also I think the Wily Stages in this are much worse than in 1 and casually has the most annoying boss I fought so far. Still decently fun to play.

Marcou a minha infância!

Mega man but not mega woman... think about that...

A fantastic NES classic for a reason. I can replay this game over and over without feeling like it’s ever gotten stale. A few sour spots hold it from being perfect, but the jump in quality from 1 to 2 is amazing.

A fantastic improvement from the first game. Despite its low points, the game is consistently exciting due to the simple yet infinitely enjoyable jump-and-shoot gameplay. Add onto that the excellent music and the nice graphics and you've got one of the best games on the NES and one of the standout titles of the 8-bit era.

Specific stuff:
- I played on Difficult.
- I found all the robot masters to be really fun to fight, especially crash man and metal man with just the buster.
- The laser section in Quick Man's stage is difficult to get down, but I found it fun. I was able to do it without Flash Man's time stop, but I like that it's an option, as you can choose to attempt the section without it so you can have the weapon for the boss, or you can use it there and take on Quick Man without the time stop weakness. I initially didn't like that you couldn't stop the time stop yourself, but I think it works really well for this section.
- Not a fan of the end section for Crash Man, but that's mostly because I didn't have Wood Man's Leaf Shield, so it just kinda felt unfair without it. I can respect making a section that's centered more around a certain ability as it allows for a more rounded use of weapons, but I wish it weren't so troublesome without the Leaf Shield.
- The weapons are pretty great. I found plenty of use for all of them throughout my playthrough. Metal Blade is extremely overpowered, but that never bothered me, since I have the option to just not use it all the time. Either way, that overpowered-ness makes it fun to use.
- I don't like the Yoku Block section in Heat Man's stage at all. Thankfully, smart players can just skip it if they got Item 2, which I find to be very great. Awarding players for thinking ahead like that is pretty awesome.
- The first three Willy stages are pretty wonderful. I especially like the first one because I was able to use a wide array of my weapons to get through it.
- Willy stage 4 is pretty horrible. I initially thought the stage was fine until I got to the boss and got my ass kicked. After using up all my Crash Bombs I had to grind for around 10 minutes just to get my Item 1 and Crash Bombs replenished for the run back. I think it's horrible that you have so little room to mess up. I understand wanting to add a puzzle boss, but I think this is just way too punishing. It would have been better if you didn't have to use the Crash Bombs on the enemy itself. Despite my complaint, I think it's nice that the walls you've blown up at least stay that way when you come back.
- I had trouble with the Willy Machine, but after a couple of runthroughs, I managed to get through it just fine by using crash bombs on the final stage and some metal blades if that ran out.
- I love everything about the final stage, the final boss, and the ending.

It had a great evolution from the first one, although not having any big changes.

More polished with tighter controls compared to Mega Man 1. The main 8 robot master stages are actually pretty great with some iconic music, but the design in the Wily Castle stages is even more questionable than the first game. They exacerbate the issue with Mega Man 2 where most of the game is pretty easy besides a few random massive difficulty spikes, also wtf is that boobeam trap boss? (once I learned how to do it I can do the fight pretty consistently with even a shot to spare, but I still don't like it conceptually).

Overall MM2 deserves its reputation as a step forward for the Mega Man series - the one that all successors would be based on, but surprisingly I did prefer some aspects of MM1, such as the more evenly spread difficulty and better balanced weapons in that game.

(Dropped at Wily 3)

The real first mega man, a definite improvement over the 1987 one and, with the exception of the final stretch of the game, a very solid one. It still suffers from a LOT of outdated design decisions, and iffy enemy placements at points, but boss design for the most part is a blast, and stages tend to be on the fun side more often than not.

Replaying this game I have found a new amount of respect for its design and honestly, I might come back to it sometime in the future.

Still wouldn't recommend it to anyone, but honestly, THIS is a solid start to a series.

...the Wily Fortress stages can go SUCK MY ASS tho.

there's so much bullshit toward the end but the rest is really good

Pros: Solid physics, snappy collision, quality sprite-work, but most of all, excellent music! The addition of boss powers here help things out a bit.

Cons: I don't like anything Mega Man... I don't like how aiming with your standard arm cannon works, I don't like how knockback after taking damage works, I don't like how enemy respawning is so instant any time the camera pans back and forth. I don't like how a lot of the level design, and how it feels like there's nothing you can do but learn the routes based on trial and error... I don't like this franchise.

What it means to me: This is probably the Mega Man game I've played the most, as I had it on Wii Virtual Console, as well as the NES Classic Edition mini, so I tried it numerous times, but could never get into it fully. And while I hate so much of it, I gotta give it to that composer, the music in this game rocks, man.

Music 10/10, levels are a good challenge, and that retro difficulty hits just right. Jump and Shoot Man 2 is well worth your time

Relatively better than MM1 with a kick ass soundtrack and mildly better controls

music slaps- this game was ahead of its time and it would have been perfect if they had better technology
