At one point a character drops the line "he's right behind me isn't he?" and I knew right then I just couldn't spend any more time on a game with dialogue that made me want to drive my head through my monitor.

I tried this a few months ago and hated the movement, but I tried it again because I wanted something short. And folks, the movement rocks actually, and racing out of a level is the best kind of fun stress. The bosses are a noticeable difficulty spike that made finishing levels obnoxious- I ended up cheating with debug mode to beat the final boss. But when this game hits you with a sick gimmick you have to figure out on the fly as you're racing at mach speed... that's some gaming right there.

Got my yearly itch to play this again, and damn if it still isn't the pinnacle of this type of game. The hump of getting from the campaign to the endgame comfortably is still tough though and I wish there was something to smooth it out or make it more obvious what adjustments my build needs.
