The start of my favorite gaming franchise of ALL TIME. The first generation of Pokémon was a complete phenomenom, as it introduced to the world the creativity that was present in Game Freak and Nintendo. The original 151 Pokémon, the rivals Red and Blue, Team Rocket, Gym Leaders, Elite Four, and many others first appeared in this one.

However, many people say that this is the all-time best generation that Pokémon presented thus far, and I beg to differ. Although this gen is REVOLUTIONARY, it has many problems. The opposing Pokémon's AI is malfunctioning, tons of glitches and programming errors are presented in this gen, the story is not nearly as interesting as the other gens are, the possibility of a Pokémon skipping levels and not being able to learn a move is very concerning, and etc.

Aside from the problems, it's still a good game, as it started everything we know today, of course. However, all of the next gens in my opinion improved significantly on what Pokémon can be (remakes included), so the first gen in my opinion, although very important and good, fall behind on the level of content quality of later games.

his is the game that almost, ALMOST made me buy a PS4 just to play it. I discovered this masterpiece at the end of 2018/beginning of 2019, where my friends at the time were obsessed with the franchise, especially this game. When Joker was announced for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, I decided to take a look at the game as a whole (yes, on YouTube like thousands of people have already done and which became a meme, since I didn't have money for a PS4 and I was still a teenager in high school).

I was suffering from very depressive episodes that weren't good at the time (pressure from college entrance exams, a new school that was really tough, living with relatives, very high anxiety, etc.), but consuming Persona 5 Royal content really improved my well-being, because I was completely immersed in the game, in an impressive way. I delved deeper into several characters, I was amazed at the high quality of the game, and very happy to have discovered this franchise. Fortunately, years later, the game made its way to several other platforms besides the PS4, which gave me the chance to play the game for myself... and I LOVED it!

Almost 200 hours of pure fun, it's an extremely well-made game in every aspect! Even with its flaws in some parts (Quinta dungeon, specifically), the game is still a 10/10 for me, for sure. This game makes me want to play the other games in the franchise with great pleasure (I intend to do 100% of Golden soon), which seem to be on the same level as this one. I recommend it to ALL JRPG fans, you won't regret it. It's one of the only games that I would have the pleasure of buying full-price, but it goes on sale frequently, so that's all the more reason to pick up this gem.

Super Mario RPG... I remember playing this game when i was a little kid, I didn't even know what an RPG was, only played the main platforming Mario games, so I dropped it shortly after. As the time passed, I became a huuuuuuuuuge Paper Mario fan, and I had the time of my life with the first 3 games, and got really satisfied with it. But I never had a real interest in playing the original, the one who started it all... then the June 2023 Nintendo Direct happened.

I grabbed Super Mario RPG this year and thought I might give it a try, and man, I'm so glad for doing that! This game is absolutely incredible, in almost every aspect. It's a simple RPG to anyone who wishes to try the genre for the first time (it's super easy to get used to), but it has a lot of charm. The characters are great (especially Geno), the story is simple, but it works, the fights are not that hard, the OST is great, etc. Heck, playing through this made me realize that I like it even more than the original Paper Mario!

Unfortunely I've noticed some small consistent frame drops in this remake, but that honestly does not bother me at all, being that the whole game runs at 60 FPS 99% of the time. This game made me realize that Mario RPGs (and Mario games in general) are starting to become more and more creative as the time passes, hopefully we can have a Super Mario RPG 2 in celebration of this game's success, if that happens, I can't wait to try that out!

The best game I've ever played!

Chrono Trigger is a classic, a completely timeless game. There is nothing, NOTHING bad in this game. Remarkable story, incredible and charismatic characters, difficulty at the right point... everything is incredible! I can't put my love for this game into enough words, it helped me through some of my worst moments.

If you haven't played it, PLAY it, especially if you're a fan of JRPGs. It's a classic that's well worth trying out. It's no wonder that it's in the Top 1 RPGs for a lot of people out there!

One of the most complex games I've ever played. I love visual novels and I decided to play this one (which they say is the best ever made), and it really is impressive! Each character has their importance in the story, and the climax is certainly the last chapter.

Fata Morgana is a VN that features extremely HEAVY themes, and in a way it gets "tiring" in the first 3 chapters of the game. But when the truth is discovered, everything falls into place in a fantastic way.

My only criticism of the game is that it takes a long time, as the pacing is very slow. It's notable to say that the Switch version is the definitive one, it brings updated graphics and new content (such as the Reincarnation epilogue), however, my experience was here, in the Steam version. It's an incredible, complex story, and it's difficult not to feel something in each chapter of the story. There are times when it's a happy VN, but many moments it's too sad and heavy.

Buy it if you have the opportunity! It's truly one of the best experiences I've had with visual novels in recent times.

Right after the first game, I decided to play the second, with the hope that it would be a little better. Well... in some facts it's better, and in others it's worse.

The game certainly has a much better story, where you control rebels to the oppressive empire of Palamecia, in which you want to control the whole world. This Final Fantasy was the first to introduce Chocobos and the first Cid as well.

Its battle system are both good and bad. We finally have MP to perform spells, but the level up of the game is very strange, really, basically, Every time you attack an enemy with a sword/weapon/etc, you gain experience points related to the weapon. The same with spells and life (yes, to increase your HP you need to TAKE DAMAGE).

In general, I had more fun with this game than the first, as much as I could see why it was the first black sheep in the franchise. I feel like this game either you really like it or you just hate it. It's by no means the best RPG I've ever played, or the best game I've played in my life, but it's a solid game. I ended up not platinuming this game, but I did the first one. I just didn't have the motivation to level up a spell/weapon to level 16, and that's pretty hard to do.

Suddenly, Square wants to remaster all the first 6 mainline games in the franchise and release it under the name "Pixel Remaster". I, who really wanted to play the older games, was quite happy with the announcement.

In this case, this review is about the first game of the 6. Final Fantasy was the game that literally brought Square out of bankruptcy, so I had a lot of expectations.

In this game, the plot is very simple. 4 Warriors of Light unite to end the darkness of the world they live in, caused by the 4 elemental demons and their commander. For this, the group needs to rescue the powers of the 4 elemental crystals to prevent the world from falling into darkness.

It's one of the simplest RPGs I've ever played, really. We can attack, use spells, items, defend and run away while in battle. We have a cool level up system, and lots of stats to level up.

However, a criticism of the game, its difficulty is... strange. The whole game is pretty easy, but when you get to the final boss... my god, the difficulty SUDDENLY goes up a lot. I had to grind to lvl 60 and use a specific build.

With all that in mind, Final Fantasy manages to be a fun game to try out, and this version (Pixel Remaster) looks like the best one, in my opinion (I'm not really into the PSP version). It's a GREAT game to introduce yourself to the franchise in general, given that each Final Fantasy has something different about its experience. A simple but fun game.

2018

Hades is a Roguelike/Dungeon Crawler game, with a story based on the amazing Greek Mythology. In this game, we control Zagreus, the son of Hades, who wants to escape the underworld and reach the surface. All this with their divine relatives from Olympus helping them.

Its gameplay is simple even, with the focus on Zagreu's deaths and attempts to escape. Playing this game, you will die A LOT, but each death was not in vain, since you can recover materials and rewards acquired in each of the chambers of the underworld regions.

The characters are AWESOME! Be it the gods of Olympus, the Chthonics, or the secondary ones, they all have different dialogues during the entire game, which shows the care that was put into this project.

However, a constructive criticism of the game is that it becomes extremely repetitive as you play, which can make gameplay frustrating. However, having played over 100 escape attempts, I haven't found any lack of content in any of them.

Hades is really a fantastic game and promises everything it proposes, the biggest one being fun and hours of content! It was Roguelike that stuck with me the most, and I dare say it was the best I've ever played (as well as being in the top 5 of my favorite indies too).

After having played and loved the first Paper Mario, I was really looking forward to trying out The Thousand-Year Door... and I'm glad I did. The game is amazing, it takes everything the original did and improves on it in so many ways.

Its story is based on Mario visiting the city of Rogueport, due to a map given by Princess Peach. This map leads to the path of the thousand-year door, where they say a legendary treasure is kept, however, soon after, Peach is captured by the species known as X-Nauts, in which they are after the same map.

Paper Mario's battle system is further improved in this game. Each ally has their own health bar, making fights fairer as a whole. More Badges are also added for customizing Mario and his partners (again, the best part of the game), which makes it possible to have stronger attacks, upgrade stats, etc. Basically everything that was already great in the original Paper Mario has been improved exponentially in this sequel. In general, the game is not difficult... with the exception of the final boss (which requires a lot of strategy to beat).

The Thousand-Year Door is a masterpiece, even if you're not a fan of RPGs/JRPGs, I'm sure you'll have a great time with this beautiful game. Its simplicity is what makes Paper Mario... Paper Mario!

The first game in the legendary series, and my first time playing Zelda seriously. I had played BOTW but not with the right mindset, so I decided to just start playing the franchise from its origins.

This game has the story that Princess Zelda was kidnapped by Ganon using a part of the Triforce, and Zelda scattered 8 pieces of the Triforce so that Link could find and finish off Ganon. On his adventure, Link witnesses the use of various items such as his sword, bombs, candles, bow and arrow, etc.

This game's gameplay is TENSE, and for me its worst flaw is simply having enemies that are too difficult compared to the bosses. I struggled a lot with normal enemies, as well as defeating bosses so easily. But even so, it's a classic game that hooks you from start to finish.

Even though it has very easy bosses and its strange difficulty level, I recommend it to all NES lovers who have never played this game in their lives (I think this is extremely rare), you can play it and you won't regret it. After the NES Marios and Mega Mans, this is one of the best games on the console, in my opinion. A real adventure!

Easily one of the best Nintendo 64 games, extremely charming and with amazing characters, intuitive gameplay well adapted to the Mario universe, and much more. I recommend that everyone play this gem sometime, because it will be so worth it. I'll be looking forward to playing The Thousand Year Door soon!

Besides having to face a huge ammount of lag and slowdowns in fights, it's truly an incredible game. The story mode can keep you trapped in for hours, and those levels... oh my god. Every single level exploits a different feature of the gameplay, and they are all very different from one another. I absolutely loved how the 3 teams Splatfest were built, it was something I thought that was impossible to do. Besides the lag and all, it's truly a masterpiece of shooters, but the online could really use some work.
