The single greatest Western RPG of all time.

Final Fantasy VII Remake is a fully realized, cinematic, pulse pounding JRPG that is everything I wanted from it as a long time fan of the series. Absolute perfection

2022

Much like Absolver before it, Slow clap made what can truly be considered the perfect martial arts game. This is far and away my favorite Indie game ever made and could run through it endlessly.

Absolutely dripping with a early 2k, fight club esque style that is instantly cool. Probably one of the most stylistically pleasing video games I've ever played. The combat is less refined and the roster is a little lacking but its style makes it one of my favorite PS2 fighting games.

Probably the most quintessentially "Tekken" Game. Jam packed with features, fun characters, and amazing combat.

One of the best JRPG's of the PS1 generation remade into one of the best JRPG's of the PS4 generation. Midgar becomes a fully realized place, the stories of Cloud, Tifa, Aeirth, and Barrett are well realized and fleshed out. You get a much better sense of scale then the original game.

The story is a well crafted mix of old and new, for certain a bit of Tetsuya Nomura meddling with its more convoluted plot structure but it's at it's core an amazing experience.

The only reason it's not a 5/5 is because there is noticeable quality shifts from chapter to chapter. Chapter 4, 8, 9 being the highlights where you really get a feel for this new version of Midgar. While chapters 10, 11, and 5 end up feeling a bit like filler content.

The game is fluid, extremely stylized and very fun. The only issue is the content is lacking (8 song's in total for a rhythm game is rough) and the team based nature of it is quite clunky. One of my favorite rhythm games on the system for style alone.

Brian cox is amazing as the director but the fact of the matter is this is a frustrating, meandering stealth game that is not flashy like MGS nor methodical like splinter cell. Without the shock factor it does not hold up.

My personal favorite Grand Theft Auto. Niko is a fascinating protag that is both easy to cheer for but also not a clear self insert. This is clearly Niko's story and you see it through Niko's eyes. If you really engage with the friendship systems, side content, and story then you'll find a game that's easily one of the defining titles of the 00's
