I hate that this game got the launch it did, because I fully believe it's the best in the series mechanically. It's not my favourite AC game, but it does combat and parkour so right for me. The co-op was also a neat addition that really emphasised the customisation and playstyles you could go for.
My biggest issue is just the plot. I was never really gripped by it and by the end I had 0 emotional investment in what the game wanted me to. It's also impossible not to mention the buggy mess the game shipped as.
Going back in I look at it from a completely different light, but it's a game I absolutely won't argue with people over when they hate it because it's 100% deserved. I honestly believe this would be a top contender for a lot of people if it had just had time in the oven.

Probably one of the best sequels I've ever played. It does everything you want it to coming from the first game and the story is without a doubt my favourite in the franchise. Everything from characters to areas feels memorable and the modern day plot is still well handled.
Despite all this, it's not exactly a masterpiece and still suffers from some clunky gameplay in combat and climbing. As well as this, the final story beats fall more flat from forcing the player to go collectable hunting to progress to the end.
Generally though, I always have a great time with AC2 and can always find more to love than not.
