I've played the other 2 Rocksteady Arkham games, but as a kid, I never got through this one. It's hard to tell how far I've been because this game is in every single gaming compilation out there. I feel like I got to the Killer Croc section, but never finished. Sucks too because I got so close to the end. I always just found this one boring, but I think I'm stupid. This game is the worst in a 10/10 franchise. As long as you don't count Origins...which I also haven't played.

The gameplay is very engaging. There are very few cutscenes meaning, everything Batman does...you do. You obtain gadgets along the way and use those to continue on into the story. This allows for so much creativity in how you go about. It is the most straightforward in the series, but I never felt like I was being told what I had to do. There was a choice there. This is the first Superhero game I can remember that had this combat style that is seen in games as recent as Spider-Man: Miles Morales. At the time, it felt taken straight out of Assassin's Creed.

The story is really interesting. As a kid, I was super bummed to not be running around Gotham freely as Batman. Now, I think Arkham Asylum is a great setting for the first game in the series. It allows you to have full open-world capabilities in the Batman universe without having the story and gameplay be seriously hurt. For a 2009 story-rich game, it gives you a lot of capabilities. Following Joker and many other villains throughout this setting provides a lot of twists and turns. Backtracking never makes the game feel repetitive. They always find a way to add certain things to the map to make you forget you've already explored these areas.

I do think certain things such as the Scarecrow encounters got a little repetitive towards the end. It only happens 3 times, but that last one is really fucking long. I would compare it to the MJ missions in Spider-Man. It sucks, but doesn't really put a damper on the game.

I have never played anything besides Portal 2 Co-Op. My dad and I played it together a while ago when that game first came out. That means that this was pretty much a blind playthrough for me. Portal is definitely my favorite puzzle game for now.

The 3-hour play time really helps. It didn't get to a point where it felt drawn out and overdone. Valve really did the perfect amount for this game. There was no reason to keep it going any longer than they did. You get the perfect amount of story elements and puzzle solving to satisfy your craving.

The puzzles were never too hard or too easy. I was very rarely able to get it on the first try. If I did, the next puzzle would take 20 tries. They were never super frustrating either. I never felt the need to rage quit. The game tried to make me feel stupid, but I always one-upped it.

The story is something you'll have to search for, but with that short play time, it'll be worth it. The biggest puzzle is the story. A lot of questions are never answered, even when you put it all together. That's one of the best parts of this game. The story can be whatever you want. I'm sure Portal 2 will answer some questions, but we can talk about that when I play it.

This is easily one of my top 3 favorite games of all time. I have played almost every single God of War game including the PSP entries. This is not only the best one gameplay-wise but story-wise as well. I have beaten this game multiple times and still fucking love it.

The gameplay definitely fully expands the gameplay from the previous games. It is still able to keep the same hack and slash elements though. That being said, combat is more intricate. The puzzles are more unique while maintaining the same type of skill. The non-fixed camera helps immerse you a lot. The different weapons you obtain actually all feel important. Most of the other games have these weapons that just don't really live up to the Blades of Chaos. This game allows every weapon to have its own purpose.

The landscape and setting are also a 10/10. Moving from the Greek Mythology that is completely over-saturated in pop culture, to the personally much more interesting Norse Mythology is the best thing this game does. I remember when they announced this game, I had no idea if the other games would be relevant. That being said, they do an amazing job keeping the old games relevant enough for old players to enjoy but new players to ignore.

The open world also helps this game immensely. A lot of games nowadays "need" an open world. This causes them to be sunk into this setting no one cares about. With all these different realms and regions to explore, you never get tired of the scenery. It's beautiful and really unique to the series. God of War (2018) is one of the most attractive games of all time, so there will never be a complaint from me about the scenery.

And then the story. An amazing story of father and son developing a relationship. Two completely different souls that care endlessly for each other even if they never say it. The father sees himself in his son and that scares him. Barlog did such an amazing job writing this story. It is so realistic and beautiful.
