I think that this is now my favorite 2D Metroid. I love the way Samus moves. On the heels of playing Super and Fusion before this one, I can handedly say that the controls have never felt tighter which makes the gameplay both fun, accessible, but also challenging.

Exploration might be a bit more guided than in other areas, but the search for powerups has never felt more fluid and engaging for me.

My only major critique is the overuse of the Chozo warriors and robots... I could have done with more creative boss encounters, especially in the second half of the game when these particular fights become ubiquitous. But otherwise this is a sublime Metroid experience and probably one that I will go back to more often than any other.

The combat is a bit clunky, especially on that final Liquid fight, but the game flat-out rocks. The pacing is excellent. The stealth mechanics are excellent. I love how the boss battles can be approached in different ways - from going all out on Rex and Raven to using stealth tactics and playing a more defensive style to win the day. The story is genius. So happy to get a chance to play the original game even with the polygonal PS1 graphics.

I adore this game. I was recently playing the GC version until I decided to just grab the Remastered one on Switch. WHAT A GAME!

First off, the control scheme is amazing. Having all the options, whether motion control or dual stick with gyro aiming (or even the original), it is so smooth. The environments really make this game and the pacing, for me, is immaculate, even if the search for the Artifacts isn't ideal (but it's not that crazy given the hints).

Final boss fights really test your skills in different ways and are a blast to play.
