This was so fun! It's not perfect by any means, but it is a real delight to experience, and that's all I really ask for from a Sonic game. I appreciate that a lot of the characterization beats carry over from Frontiers, the graphics are really lovely, the models are SUPER expressive (great to see them continuing to get better and better each game, especially after years of nobody emoting ever) and the story is quite charming. I love that it's neither sanctimonious nor afraid to take itself seriously.

I hope it gets ported to other platforms eventually, because it's a shame that one of my favourite Sonic games in recent years is on a platform most GamersTM don't regularly touch.

It was pretty fun at the start as most seasons are, and the festival mode was easily the highlight for me. BR was good especially after the medallion changes, but looking back a lot of the changes in this season kinda...sucked? Idk, there's a lot I'm not crazy for after the hype has worn off

Now this is the 90s I love (I was born in 2002)

This game is sick for the 15 minutes you get to consecutively play between the 20-40 minute unskippable cutscenes

Playing with friends makes any game better but with all the crazy wacky shit this game has it's amplified so much and is amazing. It's one of a few games I can consistently come back to anytime

An extremely well-made metroidvania with super satisfying platforming challenges and unique abilities to explore the world. Boss battles were epic and inspired. Only negative was ~a dozen game-breaking bugs that made me reset progress throughout my playthrough.

I don’t think this game is nearly as bad as people are saying. Namely, for those who believe this story is very unbelievable in how high schoolers treat each other, it really isn’t (especially having been treating suicidal teenagers for the past few months). Also yeah it’s a walking simulator, but I’m honestly okay with that. While I do think this game doesn’t work well as a whole, there are some really good parts here that I think could lead to a good game.

Pros
Environments are beautiful
Love the narrative structure
Love the FMV cutscenes
Art direction
Some genuinely disturbing moments

Cons
Dialogue is terrible
Voice acting is very meh
Trial and error chase sequences
Tries to weave in too many “dark” themes without really tying any of them together
Weird transitions between cutscenes and gameplay

Dr. GODDAM WILY is the villain for this series TOO?! What the hell happened to him between this and the original Mega Mans where he fell off from taking over the world with actual robot soldiers from within a mechanical skull palace to “I’m just going to fuck with the infrastructure of a small city now bwahahaha!”? Christ almighty, do I have to put up with him for the other five in this series as well? Can someone please just kill this motherfucker dead already

Feel like if I played this in 2016 I would have liked it way more? It's just kinda fine, I'm two months on from finishing it and it hasn't really stuck with me. Very very impressive for a small team though!

Also kinda feel like I didn't fully understand the story, even after 3 playthroughs

me rewatching the "Link! Protect them all!" cutscene over and over again like i don't know it's gonna make me cry
