Improves a lot from previous versions of p3 in terms of gameplay. Tartarus is actually fun now. The atmosphere is taken away a bit if you nitpick, but its pretty hard to argue FES or Portable is actually better if you sit down and play them. Some of the tracks are also an obvious downgrade like Iwatodai Dorm and When the Moons reaching the stars but the soundtrack is still great overall obviously. The original tracks especially are amazing. Color Your Night is easily one of the best tracks in the whole series. Story pacing is still kinda wack with not a lot happening at the beginning, but it gets REALLY good towards the end.

Excellent little platformer. Ir doesn't do anything super revolutionary but I find the game to be very well polished and quite charming. The themes are pretty creative (especially for the time) with a candy level, a toy level and a library level. It seems Mickey is supposed to be tiny in this game as everything towers around him. The controls are super tight and precise. Mickey is a bit slow, but with the game level design I got used to it really fast. He can do a little butt bounce when hitting the jump button after jumping, and this is what a lot of the game is designed around. You can also throw various items you pick up as projectiles. There's really not much to fault here. Really solid game.

Good game, but a lot of missed potiential and just feels kinda poorly designed in areas which is weird in Kirby. This is the first Kirby game developed by Flagship, who was a pretty interesting company co-funded by Nintendo, Sega and Capcom. They are often cited as a subsidiary of Capcom, but that is false despite working on several Resident Evil games, they are independent. This was also co-developed by Dimps! (who made most of the Handheld Sonic games in the 2000s and early 2010s and a lot of Dragon Ball games) which I rarely hear people mention. So this mainline Kirby game is probably the most unique one until Forgetten Land went 3d. It's kind of an open world with some elements of a metroidvania. All of the areas connect together in various ways and once you find those connections, it unlocks a door in the hub world, basically letting you fast travel. You can get each shard of the Mirror (Kirby must collect 8 of them after it was shattered by Dark Meta Knight) in pretty much any order you want. The metroidvania elements come in that Kirby has some upgrades you can acquire in this game. You can get hearts (to extend his health) and maps (to map out each of the game's 9 areas) hidden in giant chests (you can really feel the developer's previous work on Zelda in this game lol). You can also get smaller chests which contain little optional trinkets such as different colors for Kirby. This is pretty cool and gives you a reason to explore all of the various areas. Kirby's feel is fantastic in this game (which makes sense since it was straight copied from Nightmare in Dream Land). He is speedy, his float feels just right, and he feels very responsive. The level design feels a bit weak tho. Having the enemies respawn literally the second they leave the screen was annoying in an exploration game. Some of the enemy placements feel cheap(This is where you can feel the Dimps design in this game lmao). The game's still pretty easy, but it's just annoying at times. The other thing I really don't like is when you explore and then you end up in an "exit" which basically gives you a bonus game to get lives and extra health. But it basically punishes you for exploring since it takes you all the way back out to the hub world. And when you realize you've seen one, you can't backtrack. This design is not as bad as I might make it seem as the world is relatively compactly designed, but I can't help but feel that this punishs exploration before you got the map. But yeah I can see why some would really love this game a lot. The ambition makes it seem quite distinct, and underneath that is still a decent but pretty flawed standard Kirby game. But I can't help but feel they should've leaned into the more ambitious aspects of the games and made a straight up Metroidvania Kirby game. Imagine if abilities worked like Milky Way Wishes in Super Star, and then you could level up those abilities kinda like how you level up souls in Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow. And certain abilities are required to access certain areas. This game would be quite a bit better than the game we got. The game we got was decent, but isn't something I think I will go back to anytime soon.

Really really good. Sure the story is nonexistant, but who cares when the level design is this fantastic? It has a good amount of alternate paths, without going too crazy, the set pieces are memorable as they often amped up from the original levels. As yes this is an anniversary game so the all of the levels are from old Sonic games. This truly feels like such a celebration of the Sonic series in a way I haven't felt from any other game for any other series. They even included Crisis City from the often maligned (especially at the time) Sonic 06. Which they easily could've swept undervthe rug, but I appreciate it as the game does have its fans (including me kinda). Classic Sonic is here too and honestly he's kinda underrated. His spin dash is so much fun to use. He may not be accurate to the Genesis titles, but he is a lot of fun on his own merits with fantastic level design like Modern Sonic. Planet Wisp honestly isn't as bad as people make it out to be. There are still some cool shortcuts you can take to make it quite a bit faster. Which is a huge part of why I think Gens is easily the best boost game. The levels are packed with opportunities to improve your time and huge shortcuts that are quite risky but super satisfying to pull off. If you wanna see why people love Sonic gameplay, play this game.

This is a pretty fun game. It does struggle trying to be like the Genesis games as the physics feel kinda whack and there's a lot of slowdown, but I got used to it and the level design is actually pretty great. There's quite a bit of room for exploration, and if you explore enough you will find Chaos Emerald boxes which take you to the special stages if you have 50 rings. Gotta say, don't really get why you need 50 rings when you already have to explore a good amount to find these, but whatever. At the end of them, you fight Fang the Sniper, who is a really cool character. His design is just awesome imo, but he is just kind of a goofball in this game lol. Also Knuckles has been tricked by Eggman again and so now he messes with you as well. The soundtrack overall is ok, but the two tracks for Sunset Park really stand out as some of the best 8 bit tracks I've ever heard. Atomic Destroyer is catchy as well. Overall pretty good 8 bit Sonic game, and definitely the best one Aspect ever made, but I still think Sonic 1 8 bit is a smidge better as it plays better to the strengths of the 8 bit hardware.

Why are we still here? Just to suffer?

Solid 8 bit platformer. It's more of a traditional platformer compared to even the other 8 bit Sonic games, but I think it works well here. It suits the strengths of the Game Gear and Master System hardware better as well. Half of the 6 zones are from the Genesis game (Green Hill, Labyrinth, and Scrap Brain), whilst the other half are original (Bridge, Jungle, Sky Base). They're designed pretty well for the most part other than Labyrinth Zone kinda sucking. And this is coming from someone who didn't mind the Genesis one, but on Game Gear it's just painfully slow. Scrap Brain Act 2 is also kinda annoying as it's a maze level. The soundtrack is great, with probably the best overall soundtrack for any Game Gear/Master System game I'd ever heard. All of them are really catchy as you'd expect from Yuzo Koshiro. My one small nitpick is that I don't feel the Labyrinth track fits the zone as well as the Genesis one, even tho it's quite catchy on it's own. The chaos emeralds are actually hidden in the levels this time instead of in the special stages and I kinda like that. It encourages exploration although the Scrap Brain emerald is bullshit forcing you to jump into a random pit to get it. The boss fights are fairly easy on the Gg version but I'm kinda glad since you don't get any rings or shields to fight them in this game. I reccomend going into the special stages (by collecting 50 rings and passing the goalpost) if you're playing on original GG or MS hardware as that is where you can get a lot of lives and continues. Overall pretty good game, but not as good as the Genesis version imo (some seem to think it's better). Also I have messed around with the MS version on an emulator, and I don't think the GG version really suffers from screen crunch issues too much as some seem to say. There are occasions where its a bit iffy but it neither caused me to die or anything. They also made some smart changes to suit the Handheld better such as not dying when falls down the screen in Jungle Zone act 2.

This game has a lot of great things going for it, but also some things that annoy me a bit. To start with the graphics look great for an n64 game and the game actually has a pretty much locked 30 fps framerate on original hardware (which is rare for an n64 game with 3d graphics lol). Is it just me or do the cutscenes run at 60 fps? They look so much smoother than the actual gameplay. The abilities combination mechanic is super cool to experiment with even if it's not balanced super well with some just straight sucking and some being kinda busted (stone+spark stands out in particular to me as busted). My main issue with the game is just how slow it is. I hear some complain how slow KDL3 is, but that game is freaking Sonic the Hedgehog next to Kirby 64. For some reason some n64 developers were required by law to make their games painfully slow and this game definitely fits into that mold. Also Kirby's general feel could be better in general. Like for some reason Kirby floats straight up faster than he does going side to side, which is just kinda weird. Other Kirby games tend to do it the other way around, which feels better to me. Some of Kirby's actions feel like they have a bit of input delay. Particularly spitting out air to go the ground feels slightly delayed to me. The level design is great however, and feels like a step up from KDL3. There's a lot more platforming here than usual for Kirby, which is likely because of the nerfed float, which doesn't let Kirby float infinitely in this game. I am fine with this change, but I wish it didn't come at the cost of just making the float feel worse to use. The crystal shard sidequest is generally a step up from the previous game's side quest, but why didn't they put a tracker so you could see all the shards you have? It took me forever to find the last single shard I missed. If I had known from the start there was only 3 per level, it wouldn't be an issue probably but still. KDL3 has an indicator for each level on where you had done the mission, so the step back is odd to me. Some of the shards are still kind of cryptic and or annoying, but in general (other than the lack of tracker) it's a step up from KDL3. Overall a pretty good game that could've been a lot better if it was faster lol. Hal should remake this game imo. (Though maybe they should do KDL2 or KDL3 first??)

Better than I remember. The game is just charming as you would expect for Kirby. It's still not anything too crazy. Not a huge fan of the heart star sidequest. A lot of them feel either tedious or way too hard to figure out. Luckily it's optionable and I would reccomend not doing it unless you have to get the good ending and true final boss. The animal buddies are fun, but the KDL2 buddies might as well have not been included (other than maybe Kine) as they have been pretty much entirely outclassed by the new ones. But regardless, they're fun to experiment with the different abilities as each buddy changes your ability. Plus, Nago the Cat holding Kirby like a yarn ball is just the cutest thing ever lol. Some of the level design feels a bit mindless but its pretty good for the most part. Overall a decent Kirby game, but nothing amazing.

Fantastic transition into 3d for Kirby. The levels are well designed with creative theming. The boss fights are awesome, with a dodge roll beimg added to Kirby's moveset. If you time the dodge roll well, you can get a slow down kind of like Witch Time from the Bayonetta series. Being able to upgrade your abilities helps give the game a fun sense of progression and also helps allevate the small number of abilities compared to the newer 2d Kirby games. Post game content is a fun challenge like normal for Kirby. A must play on Switch imo.

Fun beat-em-up. Feels a bit short, with the boss rush just being there to extend the length of the game. Also the game could stand to be a little more challenging. I also wish the game did more to differeniate itself from Turtles in Time. Still pretty good overall.

Guilty pleasure game. It totally deserves its reputation as the controls are bad, with no momentum or sense of speed whatsoever. The game is glitchy, with Sonic going right through the 2nd Wave ocean loop on my first run. The story is mostly boring. The alternate characters tend to control even worse than Sonic lmao. So you may be asking yourself. How did I possiblely get any enjoyment from this game? Well the Sonic level design is legitmately pretty good and once you get used to how Sonic controls, it can actually be a fun experience with occasional frustration. However, with the fan remake Project 06 being out there, with vastly improved control, and less buggy, it's even harder to reccomend the 360 original these days.

My favorite game of all time. I could understand how some of the aspects of the game could be offputting to newcomers like the camera, but I just love the game to pieces. The movement is superb with the level design complementing it in just the right way to allow you to take so many shortcuts. There's a reason this is one of the most speedran games ever and it's because of the game's fantastic movement and level design. The camera actually gives you a lot of control once you realize you can hit the R button to turn on Mario cam, which centers the camera behind Mario. The soundtrack is a bit of a mixed bag, with some of the most iconic catchy tracks in any video game, like Bob-omb Battlefield, Slider, Dire Dire Docks and Koopa's Roads, but also some bland tracks like Cool, Cool, Mountain and Lethal Lava Land. I just can't help but love to this game due to how it rewards my constant replays and all the joy and discovery I have got from this game. Discovering how to get into Big Boo's Haunt or how to get the star behind the Chain-chomp are some of my best gaming memories. Love this game man!

So I didn't know a lot about this game going into it other than the concept being a funny little April Fools day joke, but the game actually shocked me with how good it was. The characters feel true to themselves, with Amy feeling like her Boom version kinda. That may bother some people, but I'm fine with it and the rest of the characters feel like their pre-Sonic Colors selves. The plot twist at the end actually surprised me, but overall the puzzles are fairly easy. The special stage like mini games are actually the toughest parts of the game, with some of them at the end actually challenging me a bit. Some of that may be due to me having to use a keyboard when I'm more of a console gamer tho. Overall fun charming game. I love all the little details and references like the casino and it being Amy's birthday when it's Sonic Cd's anniversary this year. The Tails Head spinning line made me chuckle lol. I think Sega should consider making something like this as a fully fledged game that costs money. I never ever thought I would want Sonic visual novels lol.

The game has such an energy to it. It may seem like a mascot platformer at first glance, but it's really more of an action game. The boss fights are awesome. They really have that "Treasure" spectactle arcadey feeling to them even if this game came out a month before Gunstar. The soundtrack is pretty great. Not Sonic or Streets of Rage tier but still pretty good. My only real complaint is that the game can feel a little cheap with the patterns at times, but I suppose that just adds to the arcadey feel. If you're a Genesis fan, you should try this game.
