Ranking the main series Resident Evil titles. I am using only one instance of the game and generally taking the best possible version of each entry.

1: Resident Evil 4 - Birthed the survival horror genre as we know it today
2: Resident Evil 2 - Less action than 4 and some will argue that it's for the best but for me it comes in at a close second
3: Resident Evil 8 (Village) - Took the first person formula established in 7 and elevated it to a new level
4: Resident Evil 7 - Revitalised the franchise with a new perspective, amazing villains and scary gameplay
5: Resident Evil 5 - A fun co-op shooter
6: Resident Evil 3 - A good game but much too short. Feels like a vision that wasn't fully realised.
7: Resident Evil - The game that started it all. Good, but hasn't aged too well even with remastered versions.
8: Resident Evil 0 - Annoying loading screens, a more confined setting and a weaker story that other franchise entries
9: Resident Evil 6 - A complete mess that didn't live up to its ambitions.
