It's not perfect but I can't think of a perfect game. As far as enjoyment goes and as a fan of the og, i'd say 5/5.

Tekken 8 is the complete package.
I loved Street Fighter 6 but story mode was a lacking bit since it did not expand much on the lore. Character customization was cool but it was just for your own character and not the main.
Meanwhile MK1 story mode was super fun but that's where it ended. Online was boring very quick.

Tekken 8 has amazing customization right away. A great story mode, a great way to learn how to play with fighting against ghosts. A way to review your replays with tips on how to improve. I can't think of another game with this kind of feature.

it's not a perfect game. There is an upcoming Tekken shop which is all cosmetic and I'm 100% for it. They already gave us plenty to work with in the cosmetic department so this feels more like extra content they will be working on to continue supporting the game.
Plus there is already a balance patch, 2 weeks after the game has been out. I feel confident they will address the pluggers and missing UI features. (Like an easier way to invite someone to play that doesn't involve meeting them in a lounge if you're cross-play)

Overall a strong 4.5/5 stars from me.

Great game. First armored core i've played. Up until chapter 3 the missions can be challenging, especially the chapter 2 boss which required me to grind a bit to buy the gear i needed to finally beat it.
Once you figure out a build that works for you tho you can blast through the rest of the game. After that only the chapter 4 and 5 final bosses where a challenge but once you find the right setup it was great. A good balance of challenging but still satisfying. It took a while before it clicked for me but when it did it was fun.

If you're a fan of zone of the enders than this is in that realme of mech awesome. Add lots of customization and that classic FromSoftware difficulty

Main story is solid but too many cutscenes are unnecessarily long. Too many side quests that don’t add much to the story or character development. (One side quest had me go talk to some children to explain how a scale works…that’s it, that was the whole side quest)
Choices don’t matter during side quests. Outcome is always the same.
2nd half of the game started going downhill and wasn’t worth the payoff. Ending was alright but nothing special.

Also this game has too many similarities to Game of Thrones. I don’t think they even tried hiding it.

(The character that plays Bahamut, blonde hair, rich family, towards the end game says he owes someone a “debt”. Might as well have said a Lannister always pays his debts.
You’re a Jon Snow clone and your dog is basically a dire wolf.
Your mother is Cersei.
Can’t forget the required sex, violence, blood, and deaths.
The main villain looks like the Night King.
Your father is Ned Stark.
Even the world map looks like it belongs in the GoT intro.
I could keep going but I’ll stop here. )

Gameplay: I played on easy mode and never took the 1-button combo ring off and I have no complaints. It felt like I was playing Kingdom hearts. I could’ve made it more challenging but I was playing the game for the story.
You can only customize your character when it comes to gear and abilities. The rest of the party is just there.

The game is in my top 10 favorites of all time. It's the one that got me into fighting games and one of the few I still go back to play.

It's basically AFK Arena but since it's new the playing field is a bit more even. I got into AFK way too late to make decent progress and this just came out. Plus I know how the game works so I won't make the same mistakes.

The main difference is the combat which so far I find more enjoyable. Only 4 characters are actually on the field fighting. Choosing the order of attacks will make a significant difference. I can also recognize all the characters so there is more of an incentive to collect them.

Paying $99 for a character is still ridiculous. The whales will still have a major advantage but thanks to them this game might have some long-term support.

I would've given it a star for the easy achievements but there wasn't a skip button. 40 minutes for 1000g tho

999 was worth a playthrough but after a while it became a chore to go back and replay things. The story is good but not enough to make me 100%. The other games seem to make things more complicated story-wise.

Gets an extra half-star for nostalgic reasons.
Very conflicted on this game. It was not needed and if you learn more about how they had plans for multiple games as part of the "crystallis" collection then you start to connect the dots as to how we ended up with a game with so much potential. If you were to have a new cast of characters to play with but in the same world as FF13 it would make more sense and not trash the original. You could still have characters from the original game show up as NPCs. This helps connect the worlds. But Serah and Lightning could've been replaced.

It's unfortunate because there is a lot to love in this game.
It's actually pretty easy when it comes to gameplay but I didn't mind it after how challenging parts of 13 were. Getting to explore all the different timelines was also cool. Reminded me a bit of Chrono Trigger.
The main antagonist Caius has an interesting backstory. Noel is mid but he grew on me. Serah is replaceable and it's clear to me that she was suppose to be a love interest for Noel but they couldn't go all the way because you know..Snow and all. Plus if you consider how FF13-3 wraps up Noel's story it makes even more sense. Serah and Noel go on this adventure through time. Plus with the whole seer thing...trying to keep this spoiler free but once you've played all three games it starts to become more noticeable.

The game retcons the original and is a collection of different ideas and assets that were leftover after the whole "Crystallis" collection was canceled. FF13-Versus became FF15 and whatever this game was suppose to be became FF13-2. Different studios added to the game. You also had the poor reception of the original FF13 at the time and you get a game that is a hidden gem with potential. It can stand on its own as a good rpg but is also an unneeded sequel.

The first game in the series that I played. The gameplay might not have aged well due to the slow pace of battles, high encounter rate, and only being able to save in certain locations but everything else about this game is amazing. The art style by Akira Toriyama, the music by Sugiyama, the mystery of the cursed king. I was instantly hooked as a jrpg fan. There is a reason it's on the list of top 10 best selling games on the PS2.
There is something about being the open-world art style that changes from night and day that is hard to describe for me. It was really easy for me to get lost in the game.

Dragon Quest 11 did a good job at recreating some of the best parts of this game but it didn't have the same open world map that this game had. Something that is hard to do as games become more demanding.

Unfortunate that the game was not supported for more than a year. Paid money for that Viewtiful Joe dlc too. Fun while it lasted.

More content for $2? sign me up. With the base game included I only paid $6 for hours of cheap addicting gameplay.

Didn't think too much of it at first but then I actually tried it and got hooked immediately. Did not expect the game to be so addicting.

If I didn't have a backlog of games I would go back to this.
