Games Im Playing/Have Played This Summer

This list is kind of dumb ngl, these arent summer based games or anything, its just stuff I want to play during the holidays and stuff.

VN I played the demo for and just came out, Ill get to it first
Edit : Finished 12/06
Gotta finish that Pentiment inspiration list
Edit : Finished 15/06
Maybe this will finally be the Supergiant game I finally like.
Edit : Finished 18/06/2023
Spoiler alert : I didnt like it all that much
it caught my eye and no one's written about it so fuck you Im adding it
EDIT : Finished 18/06 Okay this game kicks ass, its a 0 tutorialisation roguelike, short but sweet
Apparently there are cheats to make the game easier. I will 100% use those
Edit : Abandoned on 19/06/2023
Turns out, being given an absurd buff isnt enough, I just dont enjoy the basic framework and mechanics of the game, oh well.
I played the demo today and apparently it releases in a couple of hours? Its pretty cool.
Edit : Finished 24/06 The game did not really live up to my expectations, but it was ok
Long time coming again, Im interested in what it has to offer
EDIT : Shelved at 25/06 Idk I think its somewhat compelling but let down by its length and seemingly hobbesian view portraying conflict as closer to a zombie apocalypse
looks really interesting
Edit : Finished 25/06 Wow, that was a lot more boring than I thought it would be
Im curious as to why it was hated
Edit : Abandoned 27/06 - Yep, I can see why
Its been on my list for a while, might be kino
Edit : Finished 29/06 It is... mid
I dont remember why I dropped this, but I guess we'll find out
Edit : Dropped 30/06 I wouldnt say this game is necessarily bad? But its flawed. I think if it plays its cards right it might become a cult hit
Cool adventure game looking thing
Edit : Finished 01/07 Pretty cool
Demo was cool
Edit : Finished 03/07 It was indeed, cool
Some sort of subversive farm sim I found on my steam discovery queue
Edit - Finished 07/07 Great game. Uses the farm sim framework to explore the mundane lives of people trying to get by
weird curator discovery
Edit : Finished 08/07 its like frog detective but bad
Idk this one is just funny
Edit - Abandoned 12/07 It just sucks. It uses basic Unreal Quixel bridge assets and super obvious AI images for cutscenes. Pretentious as all hell and just boring
A very polarizing game seemingly
Edit : Finished 15/07 Really liked it but falls off towards the end
Idk man
Edit : shelved 16/07 idk it just doesnt grab me after the initial tutorial case, art is good but bleh
its time
Edit : Finished 21/07 Man, great first half, shitty second half
Caught my attention
Edit : Abandoned 21/07 Just bad/uninteresting, fuck you
jetpacks
Edit Abandoned 22/07 this game is like 2 hours long and I still couldnt be assed to finish it. Just generally amateurish and tedious. Why have I played not one but two shitty jetpack games here?
shooting neonazis is based
Edit - Finished? 23/07 idk its kinda bad but short and funny so whatevs
VN/RTS hybrid which caught my attention cause, well the genre mix alone
Edit : Finished 01/08 It has a lot of charm, but it outstays its welcome unfortunately
looks cool ig
Edit : Finished 02/08 Repetitive if semi enjoyable puzzles and a pretentious story that would put student films to shame
Recommended by EVX also looks like a cool little turn based rpg to play on the plane ride back
Edit : Shelving it for now, theres nothing wrong with it, its just not really grabbing me.
Its been on my mind for a while, hopefully this list makes me actually play it finally
Edit : Finished 03/08 Played with a friend, pretty cool, didnt get all endings but I might come back to 100% it at some point
Short VNs serve as nice bite sized palate cleansers between big stodgy games
Edit : Finished 08/08 Yeah its a PSA pretty much, idk its fine for what it is and I guess I learned something
I liked the Dev's most recent work "Before the Green Moon"
Edit : Finished 08/08 That was great, honestly. Delightful in its structure and dialogue. It feels both reminiscent of film and even graphic novels but in a clever way thats only really possible as a videogame, great stuff
The One Piece is Real!
Edit : Shelving 09/08 Man, these musou type games are fun but playing them for a while gets pretty tiresome. I'm 50% through the story, I think I'll finish the remaining half at a later date
I dont know, seems polarising, might be filtered by it
Edit : Finished 19/08/2023 Incredible game, loved it.
lets see now
Edit : Abandoned 20/08 Maybe this was a bad pick for the first final fantasy game I played but I suspect this series just isnt for me. The combat is good, but the cast and general plot is just mostly boring. I have only played for 5 hours (which is more than I would give most games tbh so this is more than fair) but aside from some interesting themes broached, the cast and setting is just lame overall. I move on to something I might enjoy better
Got a lot of buzz last year idk
Edit : I think I need a higher dosage of ADHD meds cause my ass cannot stop dropping these games. Its fine I just dont care
Post apocalyptic dungeon crawler
edit : get fucked
looks like kino
edit Im not in the mood rn for this bullshit
Long time coming
edit fuck me and fuck this goddamned list Im never doing this shit again
