Beautiful game with a very keen eye for detail. Very interesting story , exploring both the pysche and the traumas of the protagonist , Max.
Gameplay wise, the puzzles are a little too simple and contained , but for this particular title it works for keeping focus in each separate level .
The only reason this is not a 5 out of five , is because of the time sensitive labyrinth at the end of the Olmec section. In a point and click this type of desin is only anoying.

As a Lovecraft fan , I really wanted to adore this game .And there is a lot to love , great atmosfere , and ambient design. But I just can't go any further than 3½ stars. That refinery level , was just too bad. Dull looking, boring to play, confusing and, for me , killed the pace of the hole game .

Just finished a second playthrough of this game .
And apparently in dragon quest , similarly to love , you never really get over your first.

a great sequel that improves all the biggest issues that I had with the original .
No more confusing levels , or obnoxious objectives, and a great story to boot.
That said, the last act is a major downgrade.Serious? mission 13 and 14 are almost the same

A game with many flaws : repetetive levels and enemies , serviceable combat ,and a 3rd act full of performance issues...
That said ... Why Am I crying so hard?

Does this game deserve 4 stars ? No ... probably not . Do I love it regardless ? Yes ... definitly, yes

God , I'm a sucker for this type of metanarratives

I think we can all agree in one thing... That was a cute cat.
