I have to confess that I enjoy Luigi's Mansion even more than I enjoy a typical Mario game, and that is mainly because of the atmosphere and general concept of Luigi's Mansion. The idea of capturing ghosts in a haunted mansion is so charming when combined with the fun and innocent presentation of a Mario-franchised game that I honestly cannot get enough of it. Luigi's nervous disposition and humming adds to the environment, and the mood is set for the exact type of spooky which I enjoy the most. One particularly noteworthy aspect to this game would be the portrait ghosts, which is a concept I wish they had continued with in the subsequent titles.
That being said, the game is not without its faults. The controls are not the greatest and sometimes flashing ghosts or sucking up items to launch at them can be cumbersome. At the end of the day though, this is really my only criticism of the game, and it is worth playing just for the endless charm it provides.

My first Harvest Moon game was Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town. In fact, that game was one of my first real gaming experiences as a young child, so when I eventually picked up this game for the Nintendo DS, I was expecting a similar experience to the one I had with my first Harvest Moon game.
What I got instead was a world of disappointment. The game isn't bad, but it is far from good. The characters and town just aren't as engaging somehow, and everything about it felt bland in comparison to Friends of Mineral Town. The game had some upsides, but it is nowhere near the quality of Mineral Town, so it was a pretty disheartening experience overall.
With the whole Natsume debacle, and the game changing titles and all of that, the Harvest Moon brand has absolutely tanked. You can play Story of Seasons instead, the true continuation of the series, but even then, the quality has dropped over the years.
My advice: If you want to play a good Harvest Moon game, play Mineral Town and skip this one. If you want a good modern faming sim, play Stardew Valley. Harvest Moon DS isn't really worth the time, unfortunately.
