Every Japanese learning guide: Hanahira is the perfect visual novel for beginners :) It's probably the easiest to read!

Every other line of dialogue: ああああああ

I'm a huge sucker for mid-late 2000s internet nostalgia and goddamn does this hit me right in the feels

Heartwarming, cute and has some fun moments with the Bitsy engine

It's a shame that this game isn't free to play or 4 player teams, because I'm worried that both of those things will harm this game's longetivity

It's a really solid but janky PvPvP game with some very fun elements

My friends and I have been really enjoying this - I prefer the roguelike layout to Overcooked, where levels tend to get overly convoluted

Parody visual novels only ever know three jokes - meta humour, being presented with choices that can't actually be picked, and "hahaha you're playing a dating sim isn't that WACKY", but this game thinks they're the three most original ideas in the world, so my first impression was "wow this visual novel REALLY has its head up its own ass" and...I don't think I was wrong with that call whatsoever after finishing BUT...I honestly did quite enjoy it

The artstyle is nice, the achievement aspects are fun too and while this game isn't as original as it thinks it is, the execution is pretty strong

Deconstructeam are so so good at telling tiny narrative experiences in interesting ways, and it's always a delight to see them release new small projects like this

I really liked the "X days left" format of this bitsy poem!

Hmm, I wasn't into this as much as The Letter but it's still pretty solid

As someone who makes Overwatch youtube videos for a living and hates parody dating sims, I had a good laugh when I learnt this was coming out

I thought this was fine - it's pretty clear that effort and love has put into Loverwatch. The artstyle and backgrounds are all especially nice! However, it's also exactly what I expected in that it's shallow and can't be sincere for a second out of fear of isolating players who think dating sims are icky. To be fair though, there is only a 15 minute run time so I can't really ask for much

If you're a transfem who uses twitter to flirt with other girls and you reply with ASDJDKFJAKLFSA or "ohh you're so mad i bet you wanna kiss me right now" when arguing with someone online, I think you'll get a huge kick out of this

HWBM isn't a bad Visual Novel by any means, but it has a very specific audience in mind - probably one that has watched all of NGE - and I'm just not part of that, and therefore found it aggressively impenetrable. I get what HWMB is going for. It wants to create a world that existed before you got here, with pre-established character relationships and world building, and there's nothing wrong with that! But you've also got all these huge paragraphs full of vague science fiction terms, so I ended up feeling incredibly overwhelmed while struggling to follow along. I really felt like I was missing something, like I'd started reading a book half way through. And again, this isn't an objectively bad way to tell a story but it's not personally for me

It's a bit of a shame because towards my first ending (which itself was honestly extremely cool!!), I actually started getting kinda into it - when the writing is good, IT IS SO GOOD. However, when I then started my second playthrough as another character, with a more positive open mind this time, I soon found myself hitting the same issues

The visuals, UI and audio are really cool as well, creating a great atmosphere though

A very cute and enjoyable story, but has no options to speed up text or allow the player to autofill lines by clicking like most visual novels. This means the experience is a lot more slow and tedious than it ever should've been, which is really offputting

The mystery is quite interesting, the sounds/visuals are nice but the prose is either intentionally written to be extremely dry, or must've been translated poorly from a different original language. This VN ends up feeling like you're reading a wikipedia summary of a story, instead of an actual story because of how vaguely things are described

It's a little boring to read, especially the first chapter and a half, and it's hard to remember which character is which, since they only get a brief introduction and don't do anything to stand out. The last chapter and wrap up is pretty solid though but it felt like it took me much longer than an hour to get there

I'm willing to put up with quite a bit jank in an indie 4 player coop games since it allows me to hang out with friends but this one just kinda fizzled out after about an hour and a half :( It starts off pretty solid - levels are short, there are some spooky monsters and objectives are fairly clear. We were having a solid time! However, as the game goes on, levels get longer and dull unobvious puzzles become frequent. It also kinda sucks if someone dies early on in a long level because it means they're stuck spectating for 10-20 minutes unless the host restarts. I'd say, up until the dogs get introduced, it's pretty enjoyable, but from what point onwards, it started losing us until we were all good to refund this at the two hour mark
