While some bemoan the increasing levels of action in this game, I feel this game finds a special gap that 'Dead Space' as a franchise can slot into, blending from the horrific to the thrilling brilliantly. A fantastically paced game with lots of memorable moments, this for me is the peak of the franchise.

Some parts haven't aged too well (especially when it comes to the Chinatown section in the last part of the game) but with such memorable characters, rich atmosphere and brilliant dialogue, this game is a must-play for RPG fans.

Takes a nosedive after the homicide cases, but the first part of the game is very fun.
