"Tales of" Games Ranked
My 2nd favorite video game series.
19 Games
It's fun to play and the story is one of the most beautiful ones I've seen in anything ever. Please hop on.
1
A game that feels like it capitalized on a form of love for games that I rarely had before. I'll never say its perfect, but this game is just such a treat all around.
2
My favorite cast of characters in any video game. This game could literally just be the skits and I would probably still give it a 7/10. The combat has its flaws but man it's such a raw combination of what we had and Graces. Unfortunately the conclusion is super rushed and it ends right when the story was getting really great... Oh well, what we got was still amazing at least.

The combat in this game is so freaking sexy and incredible, and gosh the story content in this game is SO underrated too. It starts off slow but it builds up to such an emotional story. Really the main thing holding this one back is the shoestring budget limiting its graphics to "ugly" and its encounters to "random."
4
Freaking stellar all around until you get to the last arc and the story falls off a cliff. Doesn't sour the experience as a whole though, and this is definitely the natural evolution of Symphonia and Abyss' gameplay.
5
Kind of feels like a weird sequel in some ways but I could never deny the quality that oozes from this sequel, a solid focused story with improved combat that was already great. I also just love being around the characters in this world way too much.
6
I honestly find the characters of this game pretty charming and I even like... Parts of the story. It's definitely padded and has some missed potential but I think it has some solid ideas. The combat here is also great, I can see why the PS4 games attempted (and failed) to recreate it.
7
Every core aspect of this game is great and should make for one of the best in the series but it just has so many small things. Why are skits so long and boring now? Why is the pacing so terrible later on? Why do the bosses in this game vary from "not fun" to "absolute abomination?" Whatever, it's still a great game.
8
The combat is an interesting sidegrade from Vesperia and I like the cast but the story feels really unfocused despite its strong concepts. Really, the gameplay carries.
9
The combat is so spectacular, flashy, and addicting but this game could basically not have a story and I would feel no different.
10
It definitely has its flaws but all around this is just a cozy and charming game. :)
11
The story and cast here is one of the best I've ever seen in a game. The gameplay exists.
12
I enjoy the story and cast more than most and I love the sprawling world, but "Graces but worse" is never a good pitch for a combat system.
13
Genuinely incredible that this game runs on a DS and the its overall pretty solid but the comical level gaps make this the only Tales game where grinding feels necessary.
14
The same case as Phantasia PSX but with shorter animations and with a slightly better story and on average a better cast.
15
It has its classic RPG charm but the story and characters are largely unimpressive. This would be fine if some idiot didn't decide there should be fifteen 20 second animations in every battle.
16
Takes a massive dump on a game I love with all my heart. The clunky combat, mistreatment of old characters, low production values, and problematic story only sour it further.
17
Soulless boring generic garbage with hardly any redeeming qualities, but at least it's short.
18
WHY THE HELL IS A GAME THIS REPETITIVE 80 HOURS LONG????
