Playing this game is what being a uni student feels like

can a spinoff fighting game boy and an original source material girl really find love on the battlefield

i now kin several racists.

When They Cry is a series that strives with its sincerity and wishes for nothing more than raising happiness and empathy in the world. Umineko Chiru might just be best example of that.
If you can tolerate (or even enjoy) its amateurish sides, you will find yourself in a beautiful and very inspiring dialogue with the author, questioning yourself on why you're even here reading fictional stories, why are you trying so hard to understand the circumstances of these characters? What is it to you and what is it for the author, trying so desperately hard to craft these stories with the little they have.

Umineko as a whole is what I look forward to the most in fiction and it forever complemented me as a person.

So I can only give a big thank you to everyone creating with the intent of making people smile.

Game made me wanna kill myself about 20 times. Best game ever

Fromsoftware at last has atoned for their sin of codifying the "wait and press the i-frame button" action game. The proactive, aggressive movement and positioning action game, resurrected by the studio that killed it, nature is healing. (And in fairness they killed it by making really good defensive/reactive games that everyone blandly riffed on, you don't blame the GOAT for their herd)

FromSoftware finally remembered what good gameplay is

The yuri in this goes hard

what most girls want in a man: strong, handsome, has money, smart, funny

what i want in a man: can frontflip, thick thighs, jetpack, formerly a leader of the dangerous organization Scarlet, eagle man bird face

The best atmosphere of any game I've ever played, period. Suffocating and gorgeous. Still feels completely singular even after all the other games it wrought. Never have beauty and horror been so perfectly wedded in a game. Tower of Latria remains the scariest level of any game I've ever played. Every idea here is unforgettable--world tendency, halved HP, the maiden in black, the weird fat demon that inevitably kills you, the dragon bone smasher, Yurt the Silent Chief, the gargoyles... A masterpiece that deserves the reverence paid to Dark Souls and Bloodborne, even if it is imperfect in certain mechanical/game aspects. The profound inspiration here, the unity of all aesthetic elements yields something that transcends any particular weakness you can point to. Blew my mind when I first played it and still does even after all these years.

They will never understand what its like to be a true social reject, a creep, a weirdo.they will never understand what its like to be Italian. Nobody understands me because i call movies "films". I am literally the joker, nobody understands me -Jacopo Bearzatti

Quite possibly one of the most insulting sequels ever made. I honestly can’t believe the developers had the gall to advertise this game as if it had a female main character for 3 years when the male mc was decided on back in 2018. Absolutely disgusting.

cannot say i am particularly enamored with the idea that we should frame this discussion in any way that pretends it is not ultimately a willful net loss for games preservation. the idea that in order to aggressively push hardware a development team was enlisted to resurrect a long forsaken ip, in the process fundamentally misunderstanding the majority of its artistic sensibilities (sometimes aggressively so) to showcase a console’s power rubs me the wrong way for several reasons. and there’s potent irony here because we must also remember that in essence sony is banking on from softwares death cult to launch a console cycle for the second time in a row now. recall the invective words of shuhei yoshida, 2009: 'This is crap. This is an unbelievably bad game.' surely what is now a valuable ace in the sleeve for sonys financial strategy in the 9th generation of consoles onwards deserves more respect than this?

as an immediate contrast in the field of remakes, i’ll put forward that at the very least, ff7 is one of the most ubiquitous games of all time - to such a degree that altering its content and expanding on its themes in a rebuild-esque scenario is not only sensible, but appreciated. the same case is difficult to make for demon’s in my opinion.

perhaps bluepoints alterations, seldom rooted in any reverence for aesthetics but instead prioritizing largely perfunctory gameplay, are to your tastes. but they are not to mine. the original demon’s souls is an intensely difficult work to assess, litigate, and reconcile with, to be sure, but whatever your stance on it, it’s difficult to deny how exquisitely it worked with its limitations to fashion something that was entirely inspired and bold, yet quintessentially from software. none of that same evocative ethos is reflected here, and for these reasons i find bluepoint’s iteration extremely difficult to respect - doubly so because im in a position now of having twice been told to give bluepoint a chance on a remake, both times to personally and deeply unsatisfactory results. i only wish more folks had a convenient way of experiencing the original so they were free to pass their own judgments

What am I doing with my life? All this time spent ironically praising shitty games including this one and now people are unironically gassing up generic survival crafting game number 74,963. That settles it, from now on the words “peak fiction” will never leave my mouth ever again!

I gave a friend of mine Umineko and they gave me this as a response 😭😭😭
