An excellent metroidvania. It’s haunting and beautiful and sad, with the Dark Souls philosophy of storytelling, but it’s worth the time. The unique concept of the spirits is very cool, and the multiple axes on which you can customize your character are great. Combat is simple but satisfying, platforming has some clever depth to it, exploration is great, story is beautiful. Highly recommended.

A beautiful game. A love letter to classic RPGs, with familiar but creative combat and a simple but compelling story. Hints of a larger world as well that I hope get explored in future games, much as this game expanded on the world of The Messenger.

Do yourself a favor and make sure you get the true ending (which will require beating the final boss twice).

A good Persona story, a middling video game. The tactical combat is solid but not very deep, and there is even more dialogue than a standard Persona game (without the social sim elements of the core Persona games or even the bare bones social elements of Persona 5 Strikers). I love these characters and have played Persona 5 to completion three times, but even I got bogged down at times. The persona and equipment systems are good as always, and setting up effective combos in the combat is satisfying. Just be prepared for a novel’s worth of reading. All in all a B/B- from a typically A+ franchise.
