The first Kirby game I have played, I remember get this like in 2017 with also my first amiibo, yeah the Kirby one.

Anyways this was a blast! One of the best plataformers I have ever played. It truly gets the idea of a Kirby game, adding an amazing story, great levels, and one of my favourite game soundtracks if not one of my favourite soundtracks of all time. The robot addition is a, while very different from the Kirby theme, connects perfect with the Kirby franchise and is super fun too use.
Overall, this is one of the greatest Kirby games and 3DS games. I haven't played RTDL or Superstar yet, so this is so far my favourite of the franchise.

If you've ever enjoyed watching those carpet/stuffed animal deep cleaning videos, I guess this is the 4 hour distraction for you? Based on the name and the silly font for the "boxart", I hoped for something significantly more campy and ridiculous. This was entirely unremarkable, bland story with nothing you haven't seen before, the characters feel barely fleshed out beyond Rani is adventurous and Becks is not, and the gameplay and puzzles are pretty rudimentary. It's not bad, but it's nothing special and frankly if it wasn't for the fact that I use websites like this I would absolutely forget that it even exists, let alone that I ever played it.

LISTEN HERE, MEAN GENE, I GOT SOMETHING TO SAY, BROTHER. IN 2019 I PLAYED THUNDER IN PARADISE ON THE PHILIPS CD-I IN FRONT OF TEN THOUSAND SCREAMING FANS, JACK. And boy, I never once felt like I actually did anything. The game claims that you can do well enough that you get to play as the character that looks like a thawed out cryogenically frozen nazi super soldier, but I don't know if I believe it. Hulk Hogan yells at you a ton and you sit there wondering if it's even possible to succeed at this game, but then you just win anyhow. Quite an experience.

I love Katamari and had a great time with this, but of the three I've played so far this is easily the weakest. The original and We Love are both super imaginative and have very well designed progression: you don't have to slowly search an overly large map to find levels and they actually build up in difficulty and concepts over time. Beautiful is fun, and it's Katamari so it's a unique and enjoyable experience that I'm still thrilled to play, but it's not as concise or well designed a game. Most levels feel just about the same difficulty, the gimmicks generally don't meaningfully change how you play, and it feels like the time limit is almost always 5 minutes, making each level very short. Previous games weren't exactly long but this was over in no time.

It's great to have more Katamari to play, Katamari doesn't get boring! I'm still glad that Beautiful finally got made backwards compatible, but it's a shame that it's so inessential after how incredibly good it's predecessors are.
