Fine with a cool aesthetic and nice story although limited as it quickly runs out of ideas for the paint ball mechanic, turning into unrelated if interesting ideas like the box forming, before the ending which doesn't use any of the mechanics at all for a basic climax.

Don't care for the story or 'nothing' ending, but HL2s gameplay is still great, including the improvements of later episodes, and the levels are lots of fun with tons of variety in gorgeous environments and challenge.

Might like more than HL1 honestly.

Stellar visual upgrade that made revisiting it for the 3rd time as magical as the first. Missed opportunity as a remake, some day the fabled 8 beta collosi will come to light, but still it's the best version of SOTC now.

The most fear I felt throughout this entire game was realising that the sound effect used in every cutscene was from Cinema Sins.

Is it weird to say this has become a comfort game for me? Despite it trying to give me a seizure everytime I die?

IT'S COMING BACK YES DTL3 BABI

id made an entirely new enemy just to get people to actually use the stupid microwave beam mod.

A good story that should probably just be a movie instead of a dull puzzle game.

Replace the open world with a more linear structure and it would be better since the combat is fun, if easy, and the story is enjoyable schlock but the OW gets in the way.

Solid stack of levels, even without Glados, although some kind of conclusion at all would've been nice and less anticlimatic.

Completely shallow both in gameplay and story. Hides behind the artistic facade which is to blame for all the annoyances in the gameplay like; backtracking, slow speed and wandering around getting stuck on random objects appearing. But all for a story that says nothing and with a set up that feels cheap.

I understand why the gameplay would appeal to others but for me it simply got in the way of the story.

"If you don't mind me asking. Have you ever had sex?"
"No I haven't"
punk4eva will remember that

This was the single most intimidating line in the entire game.

Me: Man I have literally hundreds of other media I need to get through.
Also me: You know what I wanna get the gnome achievement.

Still great core gameplay but the content is stretched super thin with the new rogue like elements and contradicting the more precise puzzle design nature of the original, leading to unfair encounters at times which can end a good run.
