Gameplay-wise it's the strongest entry in the series. I really missed Liberation Missions, but everything else in the game is amazing. The story is cool, changing most of the side characters was a good move, as they got boring after 5 games. Classic MMBN filler is still here, but there's just so much content here that it's barely noticeable. CrossSoul is much better than DoubleSoul as a mechanic, and Beastcross enhances it even more. PvP is also at its best here.
Huge improvement over the first one. Styles are one of my favorite mechanics in the whole series, and makes BN2 and 3 hugely replayable. The game, like every other title in the series, suffers from some wonky writing and a lot of backtracking/tedious fetch quests, but honestly, if you're playing Battle Network, you do it for the gameplay, visuals and music, and they're all here.
Mega Man Battle Network is already peak media as a series, but MMBN5 is probably the best game in the series. The story is a bit more edgy but one of the best ones, gameplay is almost the best it has been (BN6 is better in this regard. Chips are better balanced and Crosses are more usable than Double Souls) and the liberation missions are amazing, their only downside is there aren't many of them in the game. The more I play this game, the more I like it
