I feel like I could gush about this game forever. I try and avoid all promo material for games these days since they can be spoiler heavy, so I didn’t realize this was going to be so different from the original. It very much feels like it’s own game and in this case it’s a really good thing. There were a few minor things I was missing (really? they couldn’t include the “your right hand comes off?” line?) but overall I really appreciate the ways this game tells its story. Characters like Luis and Krauser get a lot more depth in this game which I really appreciate. There were a few creatures I had in mind that I thought would be terrifying in the remake, and by far the Regeneradors clear that category. They made them feel just as scary as they did when I played the original as a kid. I’m honestly bummed we didn’t get introduced to “It” since that would probably also be pretty horrifying. I appreciate that this game has a lot of unlockables it gives you plenty of reasons to replay the game, but the rpd/pop star outfit combo is missed for sure. I even checked out a bit of the Mercenaries mode they added and I was honestly impressed that they implemented multiple characters like the original since that was a large part of the appeal. I’m curious if Separate Ways will be paid dlc, it feels like they kept Ada’s character in the dark for most of remake. We’ll have to see. I’m looking forward to playing this game just as many times as I’ve played the original!
