Great action RPG, but the constant feeling of being in a service F2P (Gatcha system, daily challenge, ingame promo message etc) unfortunately ruined the immersion of my adventure.
If the game was a "pure" single player adventure you pay upfront with DLCs, without gacha system and all typical "service" game feature it would have been excellent.

I guess its simply not for me, but the qualities of the game itself are there for sure.

Surely the most "day one mindblowing" platformer I had in my hands. Legendary game.

One of the best remake i've ever played !

Legendary game, precursor and Mentor of all modern Open World RPG or Action RPG.
Since 25y ago when it came out on Dreamcast, I've never been as blown away as I was the first time when I played it.
When it came out EVERYTHING about it was completely insane.
No game as ever succeed to immerse me in its story and world like Shenmue did. All hail the king !

My GOAT. Period.

Backed the game as a support to Suzuki-san who made Shenmue I & II that are my all time fav games.

I actually think now that Shenmue III should have never came out it this state, and let us dream about the Shenmue III we were imagining for more than 10y.

So many weird gameplay decision, until this day I am still confused.

The combat system is absolutely horrendous and it doesnt make any sense. As a vs fighting competitor, I was shocked beyond recovery. Especially as the virtua fighter gameplay was perfect. Why change for this ... thing?

Another example is the game forcing your character to ALWAYS go to sleep from in game 8pm, wtf is that??
I laughed my ass off when I realized it was a thing, and then clench my teeth knowing I can never enjoy the night setup of the game for ridiculous reason.
And dont let me start with the pacing of the game .. Anyways the list goes on and on.

There is some great ideas (kung fu "realistic" training, mini tournament ranking system in dojo, calling old friends etc ..) and time to time, I could feel the real Shenmue vibes that were so precious to me. Visual and music were good as well.

But honestly the game is so full of flaws that it feels more like ... a fan project.

My biggest deception of the decade, if not of my gamer's life. Cant help be feel sad about it.

10yo me played it till my gamepad died with every single friend I had, but we never finish it. And somehow we were also never bored or frustrated.
A classic of the BTA genre.

Took me 20+years to realized he was saying "Power Up" and not " AIIIWEUUU-AH"

Game was so good that I forgot I had a family for two week straight.

One of the best BTA from Platinium Games !

Excellent time on this "small" BTA game.
Fun and nervous. Surprisigly so.

2022

Excellent BTA, great system with unique take.
Need to get back to it !

One of the best J-RPG ive played. (and OST as well)
Some of the dreams stories are still so vividly clear in my mind, this game really touched me.

My favorite platformer of all time !
Finished it more times than I could count.

God tier 16bits OST, gameplay and stage journey.

One of the most gorgeous Playstation 1 JRPG, with amazing atmosphere, direction and characters.

OST is one of the best ive heard in my gamer's life and the story still resonate with me after all those years.

A gem of the fifth generation of video game consoles

One of the best fighting game of all time, but requires effort to not be a brainless sandbag to really grasp the amazing work behind the fight system and command list of characters.

There was a reason is was one of the top fighting games for years in Japan Game Centers.

Perfect balance between a simulation and an arcarde game.
Really an amazing gem.
