An achievement in tragic storytelling. The most brutal world in a final fantasy game I've played. That story goes down the drain when Barnabas and Ultima explore an existential crisis. The story gets off to a notable rip roaring start. Non game play aspects like music and visuals can make a 3/5 jump to a 4/5 for me. This is one of those games with perfect music/visual effects. Its worthy to carry the final fantasy torch. Their abandonment of turn-based battle serves as a nice palate cleanser. There is no brain-teasing strategy which is not very final fantasy-like. The side quests don't hurt the game but they arent inventive. The side-quest stat bonuses are rewarding and you'll hear some pretty great monologues from the side characters. The MMO style sidequest grind couldve been better sometimes. This game reaches staggering heights that are unmatched by any game I've played when its good but a roller coaster in quality

Blizzard ruined my favorite game. a few thousand hours in.
The most underrated game of all time in my opinion. If not, the story is one of a kind. I was playing it like around the same time Final Fantasy 7 and legend of the Dragoon came out but nobody remembers this game. ADORE this game. A remake is lofty thinking but I hope for it.

This game took me a legitimate 125 hours in a non completionist run and the last minute is as good as the first
Character Highlights include the precious Zack- Biggs moments and can't forget nightmare flashbacks at the temple of the ancients for each protagonist. The game is a final Fantasy 7 amusement park-fever dream but not a purist rendition. It has stuff I never knew I wanted. Its so good its a crime. Its kicked down the doors and stole the spot of my fav game
