2018

Just an absolutely lovely experience.

A cross between Journey with the environments and a studio Ghibli film for the animations (especially in the more cinematic scenes).

A very short game but an impactful and memorable one.

The OST will also be one that I will add to my Spotify playlist to enjoy outside of the game too.

This game was just so.... mid.

The environments, the art style, the soundtrack were all really, really enjoyable.

The writing and the story however, was just so lackluster. Not to mention this game has the most grating/annoying side-kick ever, I was just left rolling my eyes every time there was dialogue between the two.

The story is bare bones at best and I quickly lost interest in whatever plot they were trying to play out.

The combat is fun but just far too easy, I don't even think I had a single death in the game?

Overall, a forgettable experience.

So I've not played a Luigi's Mansion game since the original on the gamecube.

This was absolutely delightful to play. The environments are stunning and it was one of the reasons I remember playing the original all those years ago.

The mechanics are both memorable to the original whilst also building on them and introducing new mechanics such a Goo-igi.

Just an all around good time. The environments were my main draw to the game and made me want to keep exploring to see what environment the next floor would be.

The gems in each floor were also enjoyable to try and interact with everything to get them all!

Nothing too complicated, just a chill game to run around and solve some puzzles in before you go to bed :)

Although this is a short prologue to the game Eastshade, I found I got more enjoyment by playing it after I'd already played Eastshade.

However, if you already know you are going to play Eastshade at some point in the near future, then it might be worth playing this short game for an idea of what Eastshade is like.

I really enjoyed this game, as I played this a few years after I played Eastshade for the first time, I was hit with a reminder of how much I loved the world of Eastshade and it left me with a desire to replay it.

A lovely small tale that sets you up for the world of Eastshade brilliantly whilst providing it's own short narrative.

Shelving this for now.

Not because it's bad but because I'm not in the vibe to play it rn so I'll come back to it at some point when I wanna get back into the series!

Really enjoyed the story and the characters.

It was fun seeing how the story all connected together right up until the end. I found it kept me engaged throughout.

The music also is really really good!

Only downside would be the combat - it's just not very engaging and I found myself more bored than excited when my story progress was gated by the gameplay stages.

TL;DR: Play for the story not for the gameplay. It leaves a lot to be desired. Also I would argue that the games not particularly repayable - not much point once you've played through the story once. Therefore, it might be worth buying when it's on sale as even if you want to Platinum the game it takes roughly 30 hours and only one playthrough (which is what I did :) ).

Mystery Dungeon was one of my favourite Pokémon games growing up so yes, this was purchased and played purely on nostalgia bait.

I loved every minute of it and was pretty much smiling to myself the whole time I was playing it.

Shelved because I didn't finish all the post-game content and I'm sure to come back to it at some point - to either start a new adventure or to mop up my current one.

The most milquetoast game I've ever played.

There was barely a plot, there was no motivations for the characters to remain together, I couldn't tell you a single thing about any of the characters, their likes/dislikes etc.

Which is a real shame, the characters, individually, are passable, they're good, you can tell if a bit more time and care was put into it you would have something.

I could not tell you a single thing about the plot, it's low stakes the whole way though and I feel you don't ever really answers for why: why is this happening? why do WE have to go and do it? etc etc.

I like music, I like the art direction, I like the zones, albeit they're pretty barren.

Star Ocean 4 remains my #1.

Star Ocean 5 is probably at the bottom of my list.

Which is, disappointing :(

Edit: If you want to win just play as Miki and spam heal manually lmao I had no issues at any point in the game, a real snoozefest.

Man it's been like 10 years since I last thought about the corpse party series.

When I saw the 2021 remake ver on sale on switch I decided what the heck sure I'll replay it.

Honestly, it's just all around good fun. It's nothing amazing, but for a comfy time relaxing on the sofa you get your monies worth, especially if you want to get all the endings and do all the extra chapters (and especially if you buy the game on sale).

I had fun solving the puzzles and trying to get all the ending myself without looking anything up, just going by what I remember from playing it over 10 years ago haha.

I enjoyed it enough to buy the rest of the series on Steam to see how the series plays out!

Look.... I just loved this game, okay?

Yes the dialogue is cringe, but I actually found the characters super fun and enjoyable despite that.

I really, really liked the combat, the setting, the music, all of it was just... a really good and fun time, okay?

10/10 I will definitely play it again on the hardest difficulty and unlock all the trophies when I am done with the whole Star Ocean series!

3.5 stars not for the game but for choosing to play it on the Switch. Sometime the load times were a bit obnoxious and the controls not as responsive as I would have liked.

Don't worry, I now have the Steam ver wishlisted and will replay this game in the future when it goes on sale.

Just all around, really good fun. Good story, amazing music and really fun level design.

If there is one piece of media I think everyone should experience, it would be The House in Fata Morgana.

This game has been on my backlog for such a long time and my only regret is that I didn't get to it sooner.

Despite this game only taking me just over a month to complete, I feel like I have been immersed in the world and the characters for far longer than that. It is a game I know I will revisit, so much so I have already bough the switch version to experience all the other games in the series, and will replay this one as well on the switch, too.

I cannot give this game enough praise - for the story - for the characters - for all the plot twists and the standout, the music score for the whole thing.

Everyone should experience this story.

Honestly, just a short, fun, and enjoyable VN puzzle game.

Get it on sale as it only takes 3-4 hours to get all 5 endings.

I kind of really REALLY liked the twist???

Like sure if you think too hard about it it's kinda dumb. But I liked it nonetheless.

Just don't think too hard about the fact that they basically said "we are not dead because we believe we are not dead" and left it at that.

The combat wasn't really my cup of tea but it didn't bother me too much to not finish the game.

I really liked the characters and the story was good, not wow super amazing but it was good and for it being a 45-50 hour JRPG I was satisfied with it.

I have no desire to do any post-game stuff though, just experiencing the story is fine for me.

Excited to move onto SO4 and beyond to see how the series evolves etc.

Honestly despite knowing nothing about vtubers this game is so much fun.

I unlocked all the characters and did some of the hard levels.

I still frequent this game for 15-20 mins in the morning before I leave for work.

Despite marking this game as complete I can tell that I will still come back to this game often, for being free to play what more could you ask for?

A 5/5 without a doubt!
