Top 22 Games I Played in 2022

Will I be able to continue this type of list next year? We'll see!

Literal last game I played this year and it was incredible. I was in love with its concept of a cat exploring a futuristic world of robots. I found it super sweet how the robots evolved to mimic humans and humans are referred to as "our ancestors the soft ones" I usually don't bother with speedrun related achievements but I think its doable and I might try and get it. A part of me wishes it was longer but I think it's fine the way it is.

Hatsune Miku: Colorful Stage!
Hatsune Miku: Colorful Stage!
Holy shit I improved so much in this game. I have been playing almost every day and my skills have really improved. I went from not being able to clear most songs on hard difficulty to now being able to clear lv 27 expert songs. I thought that I wouldn't really care about the original characters from this game and while yeah I do skip some of the event stories there are some that I do take the time to read. This game is also surprisingly kind with its gatcha pulls but that could be because the last gatcha game I played was Genshin and its pulls are awful lol.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land

I enjoyed everything about this game, it managed to keep that kirby charm even in a 3D space. I loved the ability to upgrade copy abilities. I do however miss the crazy combos you were able to do in the past kirby games but can see why it wouldn't really work in this game.

3

Hades
Hades
Got this game a year or two ago and I finally got around to playing it. I suck so much at rogue likes but this game was very forgiving to me. I felt so accomplished when I actually beat hades. There's ton of replayability and its story and characters were super interesting.

4

The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe
The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe
This game absolutely proved its point that people would love a sequel that's exactly the same as the first game but with add ons. The bucket endings were hilarious and very stupid. It's all I was hoping for.

5

WarioWare Gold
WarioWare Gold
Love warioware and this game has it all. I have a blast trying to beat my high score in all the categories. There's plenty of extras in this game but I do miss the dumb pointless ones from Touched! but that's probably nostalgia.

6

Hatsune Miku Logic Paint S
Hatsune Miku Logic Paint S
By far the easiest picross game I've played. There's not much consequence to painting the wrong space. Because of its lack of difficulty, I've been focusing more on solving the puzzles as fast as possible. Wish there was more rewards for getting all the stars since it doesn't take long to unlock the songs. Went into this expecting a cash grab and it kinda is but there is a crazy amount of picross puzzles in this game that even after 30 hours I still have a couple of pages of puzzles left.

7

Rune Factory 5
Rune Factory 5
Haven't gotten too far in this game but I'm really enjoying it. It gets a bit buggy sometimes but it's manageable. I like how this series focuses a lot on combat. I've mostly played farming sims that have little to no combat so it's interesting to have to fight stuff after farming.

8

A Little to the Left
A Little to the Left
Short but sweet. Some of the puzzles were a bit confusing and I needed a guide to 100% all the levels. The daily tidy is the best part of the game.

9

Etrian Odyssey V: Beyond the Myth
Etrian Odyssey V: Beyond the Myth
Fun time. I loved the customization and how open the world seems to be. Maybe I'm doing something wrong but the difficulty curve shot up. It's the type of game that's a lot better to play alongside a guide.

10

Hatsune Miku: Project Mirai DX
Hatsune Miku: Project Mirai DX
Honestly this game is so cute with all the house decorating and dress up options. The song selection was so close to being perfect for me. It had a lot of personal favorites but it also had songs I didn't care much for.

11

Resident Evil 4
Resident Evil 4
I don't play much survival horror and oh god I've never felt so much stress while playing a video game. Super fun though. People complain about Ashley and I can see why but I would just have her stand in the corner while I took down all the enemies. The dialogue is so cheesy which makes for a great experience.

12

Splatoon 3
Splatoon 3
They nerfed all of my favorite weapons from 2 :/ Other than that, this game is great. A lot of improvements were made and I always have a fun time playing it. I actually wanted to play the story mode for once.

13

Pokémon Scarlet
Pokémon Scarlet
So much potential, if only they actually take the time to finish making the game without bugs. Other than that I did enjoy this game more than sword/shield. They did a great job with designing the new pokemon and characters. This game got way more interesting by the time you reach area zero. The music during that part of the game is incredible.

14

Pokémon Puzzle Challenge
Pokémon Puzzle Challenge
Nothing much to be said about this. The game boy color really has a way of making all the colors pop.

15

Kirby: Planet Robobot
Kirby: Planet Robobot
I realized that I never completed this game, I left off in the last world. I quickly finished it and yeah it was fun. I can see why people consider this to be the best kirby game. I do think I liked this game a bit more that triple deluxe but the two kinda mush together in my brain.

16

Mario's Picross
Mario's Picross
Not as great as Mario's Super Picross but that's to be expected since this is a game boy game. I can't play as fast on this one since there's a small bit of lag that causes me to mark down the wrong block

17

Rhythm Thief & the Emperor's Treasure
Rhythm Thief & the Emperor's Treasure
Loved the animated cutscenes and music, this game was extremely charming. The rhythm minigames were either super fun or complete bs there is no in-between.

18

Bye-Bye Boxboy!
Bye-Bye Boxboy!
Qbby :)
I liked all the unlockables in this game like the fun outfits and comics.

Placid Plastic Duck Simulator

Pokémon Legends: Arceus
Pokémon Legends: Arceus
Listen... I tried so hard to get into this game but I just couldn't. I just find it repetitive which is saying something from me, a person who actually likes level grinding in jrpgs. I plan on giving this game another shot but for now I just can't.

21

Resident Evil: Revelations
Resident Evil: Revelations
Getting this on the 3ds instead of literally anything else was a mistake. The game itself is fine but the controls on the new 3ds is bad. Moving the camera just results in my thumb getting sore. I know you can change it so that you can move the camera without using the new 3ds button but then it makes it just hard to see where I'm going.
