An outstanding experience and a huge leap forward for gaming. It helped create many current aspects of the Zelda franchise. Holds up relatively well but from a modern perspective some game play elements are a bit clunky.

A very fun concept and neat mini-golf/puzzle based gameplay. As far as I’m concerned the difficulty is absolutely brutal and I only finished the 1P mode out of spite than out of enjoyment. I will say I got plenty of positive excitement when a shot goes well or a hole is achieved under par; but that pales in comparison to the frustration of having to hit pixel perfect trick shots in a clunky 3D environment. I imagine playing with a friend who matches your skill level would be a blast, though.

After playing this through a second time I can say I enjoyed it more this time around. I am really not a fan of the Junction system at all and I don’t enjoy Triple Triad. Focusing less on grinding and card rules allowed me to enjoy the main story more. The characters resonated with me a lot more the second time, which I liked a lot. I still lost the plot a bit towards the end and I wish the ending had a bit more resolution. But, there’s a great deal of depth to the world and a lot of good ideas even if the systems and plot are convoluted.
