Shits good, masterful in some aspects.
The feeling of getting lost in this world is like no other, I was beyond confused at points but it was an awesome feeling. That early to mid portion of the game is impeccable. I love Undead Burg, has to be one of the best first areas in a game, and Blight town was also good fun, although I completely missed the path forward for about 10 hours.
This led me down a rabbit hole of doing Darkroot Forest, New Londo and Valley of the Drakes before realising that I just missed the obvious path forward towards Quelaag. Forgot to mention before attempting any of the above I made my way down to ASH LAKE!!! and got stuck for a bit. Honestly even though this was all challenging at the time as I was completely lost with no fast travel having to tactically think of the best and quickest path forward in many situations, its such a story to tell, I really felt as though I had been on a journey before realising my mistake and finding the path forward again on my own. I realised when I remember the NPC at Firelink telling me that the second bell was at Blight Town. I had even checked the area I had missed hours before.
Sadly, things take a drop for Dark Souls (as many people have said) after Anor Londo.
Lost Izalith: TRASH
Dukes Archives: MEH
Tomb of the Giants: BAD
I like New Londo Ruins though, felt cool coming back to that area after not being able to figure out a way forward for so long (I was attempting it before I had even done Sen's Fortress)
The bosses in this game were all fairly easy though, I had a bit of trouble Ornstein and Smough but I enjoyed that fight so so much as I only had 5 estus and no humanity.
It took me longest to beat the Bed of Chaos, but that has to be the worst boss I have ever seen so no surprise. Just so poorly designed imo.
Overall, Dark Souls is great and I feel as though I have had such a unique experience with the game. But I would have to rank it as me least favourite of Soulsborne games so far due to the last third of the game being less strong. Also the combat is not as strong as the other titles but that is to be expected as it is older than the rest I have played.
