This is a real cool homage to Resident Evil 1 done in first person with some other shoutouts thrown-in (that make sense with the story wrapper and aren't just pure gimmicks). Even the goofy puzzles are nailing the vibe of their inspiration completely. However, the combat and movement feels super clunky and not fun considering there's an unlockable horde mode thing and that it tracks if you're playing knife-only/melee-only which doesn't feel viable at all given how restricted and sluggish your movement is if you're not sprinting forwards in a straight line).

[Shadows of Rose] The whole middle section is some of the best Resident Evil horror content there is. Absolutely messed up. Story is whatever but great way to spend more time in these locations.

[story mode] The levels keep getting cooler and wilder, the climaxes get more and more ridiculous. It's the best.

The freedom to pick which level you want to play or stick with and when to move on is so good.

Exceptional. The two most important things about this is that it's not just a game about watching live action videos and solving a puzzle - the interface is the game. The way everything works together is just so uniquely cool and well executed. Just wish that it had something that unlocks after you "finish" that helps you see which clips you're missing or where since a lot of clips you get to based on the analysis clue are clips you've seen several times again. Anyhow, I kinda wanna see all three movies for real now. Can't have too too much of everything.

Classic Remedy. Brilliant style: visuals, sound, movement and combat, narrative, tone, performances. Just fantastic stuff from front to back. It proves once again that games set in a single contained location to explore and whose mysteries you need untangle are just the best.

Incredibly fun combat mixed with cool investigation segments in a stylish neon-lit world. Four stars for Lappy alone, imo. And a killer OST. That HQ computer theme whips.

Points deducted for Copaganda.

Some really cool twists on the battle system, the different nations, all the wild new aspects of the larger lore are what make this game shine. Too bad about the regressions in interface design and those questionable character designs and some other dubious choices. And yet they don't really drag the game down too much.

The spiced up battle system, the slightly more adult tone, the quality-of-life tweaks, THE JAZZY SOUNDTRACK.

:chefkiss:

This one's extremely fun. Every game should have DLC where you play a problematic hyperbuff uncle who's just so strong, he'll punch a croc in the fucking face and then do it again to the other two crocs waiting in line.

Neat little collection of vignette games to hang out more in that world.

Pure grime and dread. And then there's an escape room. And then it becomes a Resident Evil final act. But damn that grime and dread is capital G Good.

While it's a bummer that this remake doesn't contain all the areas and parts of the original, everything that is here, is absolutely stellar. The movement is second to none, the rollercoaster ride of the whole journey is executed perfectly and the performances by Jill and Carlos' actors are stellar.

Overall enjoyable but cannot come close to what made the original feel special and even completely ruins the sewer segment with poorly executed spectacle.

Iron Lung is an excellent ~90min ride best played in a single sitting. Tense as hell and super claustrophobic. Simple and effective. It's a more cinematic game than anything put out by your go-to makers of Hollywood games and this is an N64 looking-ass game set in a bucket!

Truly spectacular.
