The Definitive* Ranking of Games**: 2018

* in my opinion
** that I've played since our simulation rebooted in 2020

Will be updated as I play more games from this year

I'm a sucker for two things in puzzle games: deductive reasoning and quality visual design. Return of the Obra Dinn has both in spades. Progressively solving the mystery of what occurred on the fated ship is one of the most memorable gaming experiences I've ever had.
Out of every 2D platformer I've played since I shoved a Super Mario/Duck Hunt cartridge into an NES as a child, Celeste has the best "game feel". The platforming physics and mechanics are unmatched.
Everything about this game hits just right. The spectacular voice work, the excellent graphics, the epic Western tale of betrayal, and just the right amount of heartstring tugging make this one of the best single-player experiences ever created.
