The very first time I played this, completely blind, I nearly got the best ending and I was off by ONE choice. But those are the kind of stakes I like in a game. I enjoyed learning about the world here, and humanising the characters through the actions I would personally take.
In some way, it's a game of reflection - if you choose to play as if these choices are your own that is. Which, might I add, makes it an incredibly gratifying experience.
