they just don't make games like this anymore. the epitome of early 2000s emo campiness.

on my millionth playthrough as we speak

i will always say that this did ddlc before ddlc. it subverts so many visual novel stereotypes, especially with its female protagonist. play this if you love wacky writing with hidden complexity.

i love holding down the 'R' button

one of the greatest VNs i've ever played

there's so much wrong with this game, and yet there's some really good moments/themes sprinkled in that could've been good if handled well. but it's a danganronpa game so it, by definition, must fuck up writing the most sensitive of subjects. at least the gameplay isn't boring like the others in the series.

my most embarrassing playtime

my 2nd most embarassing playtime

i only play this game for cicero

it's fine story-wise, but GOD the backgrounds are atrocious

i remember the writing being okay... the sprite art is kinda not great though.

tw: racism

i have 168/172 achievements and i'm considering going back and just finishing it off but we'll see. overall this game has really good art and voice acting that enhances the horror, as well as good character writing but it obviously has some aspects that could've been done better like the pace. i think racist characters like luke are allowed to be written, but it's really jarring to have us try to sympathize with him by the end, after he's literally called the only Black playable character the n word. i am thankful that the store page has it as a trigger warning, at the very least, and that luke is meant to be a villain. it was just odd for us to play as him and the game to give him a tragic backstory that tried to explain his racism.

this is one of the only visual novels that has tackled this many branching narrative paths which is why it will be forever memorable to me.

do i really remember anything in this game besides the pedophile doll? no. do i have almost 100 hours in it? yes.
