a short but very fun and relaxing game! very rhythm heaven-eqsue so if you like those games, you'll enjoy this! i enjoyed the music and the tech minigame in particular, i'm pretty obsessed with! also, the game lives up to its name, it made me pretty sleepy, it's very relaxing!
i did have some issues with the visuals syncing up with the audio but it seemed pretty hit or miss whether this happened or not.

it started out really good and i love the concept! but unfortunately after a while, the puzzles start to become a little repetitive and some of the solutions seem more like how the creators would personally organise them, rather than the solutions making a ton of sense.
nonetheless, it is pretty fun and it is relaxing! it's nice that you can skip some puzzles because some were just frustrating me a bit and i found myself using the hints a LOT!

i'm very conflicted on this game. on one hand, the open-world is really fun to explore and i'm really enjoying my time with it... but on the other hand, the technical issues are impossible to ignore including graphics in the background randomly bugging out, character models flickering in and out of existence, lots of crashing, pokémon getting stuck, character models bugging out, getting stuck on miraidon, miraidon disappearing, entire models struggling to load in and an abysmal frame rate to top it all off.
i want to love this game but the technical aspect of it is making it so hard for me. for a game from the biggest media franchise in the world, it's inexcusable.

i never thought there'd ever be a sonic game i love as much as generations but frontiers finally did it. there's a bit of jank including bad pop-in, sonic sticking to the ground, sonic's slow speed in the cyberspace stages and the reuse of old stage themes & level design but honestly, the positives massively outweigh the negatives for me.
the open-zones are a joy to explore and the little platforming challenges around each one, although starting off very simple, gradually become much more difficult and more engaging! the story and writing is easily my favourite we've had in a sonic game ever. and the super sonic titan battles... man, were they awesome! absolutely the best boss fights in sonic history, i just wish we had the choice to replay them! in the fourth island, rhea island, you need to climb up towers and the platforming is easily at its best in this island. you could say the island is rushed, which would be very true, but the platforming challenges are also insanely fun!
my biggest gripe with the game is it's clearly unfinished and the ending of the game comes across as extremely rushed. looking at the unused content in the files, we can see that the ending was supposed to be much different and kronos, rhea and ouranous were all supposed to be merged into one island. sonic gets corrupted throughout the game and at the end of rhea island, he is totally corrupted... but then a few minutes later, he is saved by his friends holding hands around him? and then he's totally fine and we play ouranous island as usual? very anti-climactic.
i'm also mixed on the true final boss. the first part with super sonic is very underwhelming and incredibly easy. the second part underwhelmed me at first but not due to the difficulty... but due to the fact that it's the same minigame that we've been playing to hack into things throughout the game... just with the difficulty multiplied by like 10. part of me was disappointed at first but i will say the music made me very emotional and idk what it is but the boss in general made me kinda emotional, despite how lackluster it may seem. i'm also glad we finally had some sort of difficulty in a sonic final boss.
with all that being said, though, sonic frontiers is easily my favourite sonic game. i absolutely adore it and it made me insanely happy. sonic team are on the right track and i can't wait to see what they do next :) (also we now know tangle from the idw comics and sticks from sonic boom are both canon to the game universe. LETS GOOOOOOO!!!)
