2021 summary
i kinda fell off games for much of the year (read a lot of books tho), but here are some highlights & points of interest, played / watched, roughly in order i came to them
25 Games
still thankful for farm nights
both this and snatcher have some real fun highs and some real dogshit lows but for better or worse i do think the good stuff lingers more in my memory. also some pretty great songs in both
this game is pretty good. i find a lot of the reviews on here to have bought into the hype a bit too much, but that's fine. i do like it. playing it alongside policenauts was neat, i think those games have a fair bit to say in conversation with one another (surprise: policenauts does not come off looking great in the comparison).
the most interesting part of my playthrough was a glitch where i experienced a pivotal scene twice in a row, once resulting in a character killing themselves and once where they did not, with a sort of dazed experience afterward where they seemed to both be dead and not dead. i talked a lot about this game with a friend of mine, who told me she kept seeing me as kim and herself as harry. because she hadn't finished the game, i never told her about the way this sequence played out for me before she killed herself.

i replayed this and it's still great. i had a notepad document open for like a month or two with a draft of a review because it bummed me out that the only reviews of it here were middling to negative & it always seems like people's least favorite things about the game are the things that make me like it. but i can't ever seriously review anything i genuinely care about anymore in a way that meets my own standards so eventually i gave up and closed the text doc. i like getting lost in the rain.
i still stand by my review
anyway from like july onward i mostly just played picross and watched other people play stuff
after dropping this last summer because of hand pain i finally did crawl back a few weeks after the update and i'm trying to finish my museum although i've let my online subscription lapse so we'll see if i actually bother collecting all the art before i drop it again
