Best game of all time, anyone who doesn't think so is my enemy.

You know what I do to my enemies? Well by God ill tell ya. I grab a team of 3 other friends I met at school, we strike our enemies' elemental weaknesses and then proceed to deliver a stylish, well-choreographed finishing move, cancelling their ass. Afterwards we go to the movies.

I'll take your clown car full of open world, escort mission pick up ten of this and that rpgs and roundhouse kick it off a gosh darn cliff, that's all she wrote.

Going fast = 5 stars
Going slow = 0 STARS

They need to scrap any part of any level that prevents me from going fast
-Flat ass plain GET OUTTA HERE
-dumpy little dune that isn't tall enough for adequate speed GET OUTTA HERE
A level toward the end where I rip the sky open like a decadent horny God LETS GGOOOO

I do love a journey through space though, qnd the score and sound are great! this is a nice game, I just wish the execution was better and that the levels were more complex / less repetitive !

One of my favourite platformers ever. Some of the levels in here completely blew me away, wondering how people could be sleeping on a game with this quality of level design. The characters are bizarre and funny and the writing is yummies. The physics are familiar and have aged extremely well.
I played on Xbox One, so the infamously disastrous design of the final level has thankfully been patched to a point where its now just challenging instead of borderline impossible.
Also the campground music is a meandering, dark blues number and it works so well in creating that weird atmosphere.

What an adventure! If you like games where you say "wait, what if I did this" and it WORKS and you go "ha, thought so..." this game is for you.

I loved cracking this game's secrets, give it a go.

Never played original much, but if I played the original and saw this my brain would explode, such a large scale reimagining of this universe people adore! I The real time combat with the ATB keeps it fast paced yet strategic enough to still be challenging. I'm intrigued by the story and keen for the next chapter. The game lags in the middle chapters a little when it sidelines its beautiful Midgar set pieces in favour of some dank tunnels, but it quickly kicks back into gear with some truly remarkable vistas and bosses. Don't let anyone tell you this game isn't good !

Q: Why does everyone like this game so much? It's almost impossible to figure out where to go sometimes?

Answer: Part of the charm of this game is how secretive it is! I had to look up hints when I was stuck but I like the idea that people playing in the 90s would have had to bounce ideas off each other to figure out its secrets.

Everything else about it rocks too, especially the music and ambiance of the areas. This game ages remarkably well and if you're struggling to get into it I'd encourage you to just look up a hint before dropping it.

I feel that this game has a lot to give but it also maybe it does not at all? Did not make it more than 20 hours when I played on PC around launch. Im not crazy about open world games anyway but when you promise a bustling city it's not great to see three of the same model NPC walk past you in the space of only 15 seconds.
Would like to try again sometime in the future when it is more playable.

2018

Endlessly fun, an absolute triumph for Supergiant. Probably the most interesting take on a 'rogue-like' I've seen yet. Of the 50+ escapes I've done I am still finding new weapons and boons and perks keeping the gameplay fresh. The art direction, story, and music are fantastic. This is a game I will remember when I'm old n grey.
