which game do you want a translation for the most?
basically asking backloggd users the question in the title: if there is ONE game that does not yet have a translation, neither fan-made nor official, in english or a language you can understand otherwise that you could magically wish into having one, which would it be? it can ONLY be one game. provide some explanation as to why it would be yours in the comments and ill add it! also this is first come first serve, if someone picks your first choice, give me your second choice (unless someone takes that one too then gimme your third, and so on).

Hungry Ghosts without a doubt. King's Field/Shadow Tower like game made by the Ghosts n Goblins guy.
@liquid what you wrote works, a paragraph's worth isnt required!! and i feel the same, id honestly be willing to do work for a translation of ufo to be read off a pdf or separate site or something like kirameki did with giftpia--except it would be even better bc i can see ufo's structure theoretically working better for a translation in that format than giftpia does. only issue is bothering potential translators but it takes hacking the game out of the equation
@kingbancho maybe you know this already but someone is doing a translated playthru of it that may be interesting to you (unfortunately not complete and on hiatus now) https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL_3nZk9WWsQBaxHVL0XBWQBmAgXCm86P0 but even still agreed, yuuyami is VERY up there for me, maybe even more than any of the syndrome games before it

I played a few hours of Hungry Ghosts a while ago and didn't see any King's Field in it unfortunately, it was pretty linear and honestly boring. I did like the setting and art, tho
P2EP PSP's basically the same as PS1 but the hard mode is cool
Goemon 3 SNES was translated here: https://www.romhacking.net/translations/5354/
since they're a pretty overlooked country when it comes to gaming at large, how about a Taiwanese game? this is a whole series, but I'll nominate the third one for the crazy story and mechanics. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xuan-Yuan_Sword

the list is definitely biased towards japanese games so i appreciate any that arent that. ill remove goemon 3 too
I kinda want Yiik translated into braille, that could be an interesting experience I reckon.
Solid Runner from Super Famicom and Slime Morimori Dragon Quest from GBA.
@fluppywhiffle it would be an interesting experience as a blind/hard of seeing person that finds theirself playing yiik for some reason to have an excuse to turn off the voice acting, sure
@lot0 which one of the 2 do you want on the list, and what makes it the one to get translated over any other for you?

@ludzu If I have to pick one, then Solid Runner. It's from Sting, a videogame company that has a bunch of other interesting titles, some that are translated and even released, and some others that aren't. I'm really curious about its setting, plot and its 1 V 1 combat, like the first Dragon Quest.
For me its absolutely gotta be the Saturn/PSX version of Baroque. My favorite games are JRPGs with dark sinister aesthetics accompanied by minimalistic narratives and if Baroque is as good as it looks I have no doubt in my mind it'll take a spot up there. Also the ost just bangs!

I've been a whole ass day thinking of just one game that i want translated above the others, but i guess i'll go with Velldeselba Senki, a story heavy, janky flight-sim RPG, i need that!
Giftpia is a life-sim/adventure game by one of the directors of Chibi Robo, who also worked on Moon, for the Gamecube, it seems to be sort of like a more surreal and story focused Animal Crossing, where you oversleep the day of your coming of age ceremony, get sent to jail for it, and are forced to do different jobs to pay off the debt for a new ritual or else you'll be stuck as a child forever. You also have to drag a ball and chain and your face is pixelated at the start of the game, but later you find out there are other paths to adulthood by helping others.
I'm kind of a sucker for Shenmue style life-sims, or anything that resembles it, this game has stuff like having to eat and sleep which Animal Crossing doesn't really have, despite my comparison, so I'd love to see for myself how its systems are. Plus, it seems very quirky and charming.

Shin Hayarigami, a horror visual novel about detectives and urban legends. The premise and art look right up my alley.
Kenka Bancho 4 because 3 (Badass Rumble) was lit as hell but it was the only one to get localized. I honestly wish all of them got translated (except the otome, don't really care about those) but I'll just pick 4 as it's the next one after the one we did get.
added all of these but @Superesse were you aware that there was a english translation of shin hayarigami's mobile port that i THINK was originally working off the korean version of the game? its only for the first arc and clearly it didnt sell enough for them to consider translating the rest of it but......its.......better than nothing i guess?
Kajiri Kamui Kagura because it's the sequel to one of my favorite VNs and the general aesthetics appeal to me A LOT. It's a shame that a translation will probably never happen officially or fan-made considering light went bankrupt, Dies Irae kickstarter campaign had a lot of problems, and the novel itself uses tategaki, it's full of past Shinza Bansho games references, and uses old japanese + chuuni prose.
oooo awesome list. i think mine that isnt on here is pixygarden, either version. so gorgeous and really conceptually fascinating, kind of fairy princess maker with gardening and two radically different ui presentations
london seirei tantedan! i don't know much about the plot, but the visuals are super charming and feel like if early layton games were rpgs. there have been attempts to translate it but there's been no recent news so far, nevertheless i really hope to see it in english one day!
added pixy n london thanks!!
My 3 bigguns are on here already (Segagaga, Hungry Ghosts, UFO) but I can't think of another game that's LESS likely to get a translation than Germs: Nerawareta Machi. The landscape and audiovisuals are probably doing 9/10ths of the legwork if I had to guess, but it'd still be nice to have some better sense of the world.
germs is also very up there for me, was watching someone livetranslate some bits of their playthrough and it is kind of indescribable
May I change my pick to Despiria? A cyberpunk JRPG with an eery horror atmosphere and a very intriguing story about terrorism, religion, parasites & more. It's made by the same development studio behind Hellnight/Dark Messiah
Oh and it shares some staff with Kowloon's Gate!
@superesse sure! swapped shin hayarigami for that
Jack Jeanne. An otome rythm game-like visual novel from the creator of Tokyo Ghoul and Choujin X. Basically about a girl attending an all-boys opera school with lots of romance, gorgeous art and a beautiful soundtrack on top of it
